Why do some NPCs die?
Now I am trying to defeat those deacons. On the other hand I'm still clueless about what's going on or not sure what I've done so far that affects certain quests because I just go around killing things(only those hostile to me) or getting killed. By reading wiki on the web I learned that some NPCs would die at certain point, for ex, Sirris. The wiki mentions her corpse can be found somewhere regardlessly after killing someone. But why is she going to die anyway? I remember she is someone dressed in white sitting in the fire shrine. And can I perhaps save them? I remember as if other friendly NPCs could also die somehow.

Because Dark Souls.

And it's not just some of them; most of them will die in the end.

Most, if not all, of the NPCs you talk to are undead. Their driving force in life is what keeps them going, what keeps them from going hollow (for the Undead Curse) or just dying (for Unkindled). For example, in the first game you meet Siegmeyer.

Siegmeyer is an undead that loves adventure, and is proud of his strength. He is grateful to you when you open the door to get him into Sen's Fortress. He is also grateful to you when you stop the boulders rolling in Sen's Fortress, so he can keep going. Again, he's grateful when you defeat the Silver Knights that have trapped him in Anor Londo, but by now he is doubtful of himself. You're helping him at every step of the way, so is he truly an adventurer anymore?

You find him once more in Blighttown, and give him Poison-curing Moss when he's run out. Finally, you find him again down in the Demon realm. You're both trapped, with the only way out being past a group of demons. Finally seeing a chance to repay your kindness and prove himself once more, Siegmeyer offers to hold the monsters off so you can escape. If you leave him, he'll die to the demons, proud that he could help his friend. If you save him however, he's struck dumb. His last great effort, his moment of redemption and glory, and you saved his life again. This is the last time you see Siegmeyer alive.

Siegmeyer loses his will to live, as the Adventure was his reason to go on. Without this meaning in his life, the Undead Curse takes him and he goes Hollow. He's put to rest by his own daughter, and you can find her weeping over his body in the Great Hollow.

This is just one of the sad stories in the Souls series. This is part of the reason I love this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game so much

Do you mean all people have effectively ceased to be alive and take the form either of undead or hollow? That sounds like Matrix Revolution in which it is revealed that all people have been imprisoned by machines. It that so? Oh my goodness...

You mean you like seeing people dying?

I obviously don't like people dying, but I do like a good Tragedy. Dark Souls is a series with incredible depth in its lore, and I absolutely love it.

Personally I'm not into the script. Play it just because I can't find a better gothic style action game. No love for shooting games whatsoever. Now I guess I should simply ignore the background as with most Japanese made games. If they ever made something like the witcher 3 I'd change my view. Or it's just all like rockman, castlevania, contna in the 90s.

That's really a shame, a huge part of the experience with the Souls games is the lore and the atmosphere. Every character has their own interesting story, and From put an incredible amount of effort into it. To me that's like saying you like eating cake, but only for the crumbs at the end
