Golden Ritual Spear use?

Garbage spear that doubles as a faith based sorcery catalyst.
It's rubbish. It's like Archdeacon Staff, but doubles as a bad spear weapon. Kinda like Heysel Pick.

Its good for keeping people back as a mage, weapon catalysts are in general helpful in furious combat. It has the highest spell buff of any weapon catalyst. If your a faith/int build with more faith its actually pretty decent. The damage is not great by any means, but with the leo ring is becomes acceptable when poking chargers. As a spear it can be held behind a shield and the distance on the sword spell is fairly good.

Your still going to want to rely on it as a catalyst more than a weapon but ive killed plenty of people with its pokes and comboing it with spell tricks. Poking someone trying to avoid a spell so they get hit is a good use of its range.

Id say it would be my favourite catalyst if it wasn't for how low the damage is compared to what you need to invest to make it work. Can also be used to act as weapon and sorc catalyst while you carry a miracle catalyst in your other hand, though its a bit tricky to keep the spells/miracles straight while casting if your not used to it. More work than single casting for sure.

Id say it deserves a B ranking as a weapon. Its usable but not what anyone would call meta or powerful. Best used with a skillful playstyle full of mixups and tricks.

Come on, the immolation tinder does everything that spear can do and better. Better range, better weapon damage, same spell buff, chance of burning effect on hit (like a torch), no need to bump faith.
the only downside is the weapon art, the spear steady chant is cool, the tinder firewall can keep people at bay but isn't that useful.

I guess the idea is you can use the faith to equip a miracle catalyst too.

Miracles are actually powerful so im not sure what your jab was at. I mean you can pretty reliably 1k someone with high faith, unfaltering prayer and a sunlight spear. Even slow spells like Wrath are useful thanks to prayer, you just need to be more clever than casting in the middle of an open field in front of your enemy. Or right next to them asking to get backstabbed.

True i did forget tinder. But still the skills are different and id say they are fairly comparable otherwise. While damage is better on tinder, its a halberd. Being a spear is actually pretty useful and like other guy said, it uses faith to buff so it allows minor magic if you drop 10 points or so into int to cast spells. Miracle users don't have any good simple ranged spells afterall. A Soul arrow is still more useful than most of what they got for shooting people at range.

Id say tinder is a good B+ weapon or A-. Its kinda aweward afterall as a fairly heavy weapon category and it does fire damage instead of magic which is good to change up damage but is bad because it won't benefit from magic boosts.

This is how i used this weapon effectively. Leveled up my faith to 60 and my int to 23, so i can use farron flashsword besides the normal trust attack. Equipped this in the right hand and the canvas talisman in the left hand, and also a shield in the left hand slot so i can cast great magic shield with the ritual spear.

Its like hitting someone with an ultra, but more unexpected since they have to figure out what your actually casting before they rush in or out. Idiots always get hit, but if you time it right you can hit anyone atleast 30% of the time. This is more than reliable enough for a big hit like that.

Almost never a good idea to fight with miracles at range though. Spear spells/miracles in general are just plain easy to dodge lol.
