Hollowslayer greatsword

I have seen a couple forums about how "great" this weapon is. Fully upgraded without any gem implanted, this thing barely even hits the 500 AR with 40 stre and 25 dex. The moveset and weapon art is okay. There is absolutely nothing special or anything that screams this weapon is better than other greatswords. It's the Mirrah greatsword from DS2 that scaled highly with dex. Even the Astora Greatsword is better than it. An effective and high hyperarmour weapon art that can stun and get huge damage on enemies. Awesome thrust and slash moveset. Does more damage fully upgraded than the Hollowslayer with no gem. Can someone prove me wrong? I'm open minded. I just want to know.

People love it because it has literally non-stop hyperarmor. Numbers aren't everything. If you still think that damage makes a weapon, or even dps, then you are wrong. And also, for everyone their own. There are some things that you can't really see and can make the difference if you can be awesome with it, or really bad.

You'll have a higher AR if you have 40 Dexterity and 25 Strength instead. In terms of PvE, it's pretty good because of its 50% increase of damage against hollow enemies.

The main reason as to why I main the Hollowslayer Greatsword is simply because I like playing the game, both in terms of PvE and PvP, with my Lucatiel build.

Right, I forgot that armour is in the game. I do wish the Scaling for the HollowSlayer was better. Maybe C strength and B Dexerity? Fully upgraded would be C stre and A dex. At least, I wish. It's hard to find any true dex weapons other than katanas.

its already really strong in both PVE and PVP. why would you adjust a weapon that already has hyperarmor most weapons would dream of, even large weapon classes

Thrusting swords, spears, some short swords, whips... Yeah I was clearly joking with whips, but all other classes of weapons are awesome. Greatswords should NOT be dex either way.

Hollowslayer at 40/40 has slightly more 1 handed damage and slightly less 2h damage if compared to refined claymore.
It's one of the best weapons in the game in my eyes, for pve and pvp.

Hollowslayer deals a bit less damage but it is still a Quality Weapon (like everything), the hyper Armour is much more consistent on delayed R1's so thats why people like it. Slap on some heavy armour and viola, Dks1 style poise!

It doesnt give you DS1 poise. Not even close.

You're missing the most important part about DS1 poise. You don't need to attack to get its poise value. You could walk through someone's attack and backstab them. With any weapon type.

Yhorm's Great Machete can. Stop meaning you lose horribly bad on the hit trades. 66 STR w/yhorms can get 778 AR with the warcry buff. HS is low 500 AR.

Pickaxe w/leo ring can also put a stop to that ♥♥♥♥ pretty quick.

Black Knight sword has more AR than hollow slayer with 40/40 STR/DEX. You can use perseverence to trade 2H R1s with Hollow Slayer and win every time.
