should i upgrade scholar's candlestick?

does upgrading scholar's candlestick increase the magic damage buff that it gives at all or just increase it's normal attacks damage... because i carry it in my off-hand to boost sorcery damage but never use it for attacks. just wondering if i should upgrade it at all. thanks in advance for any help or advice offered :) praise the sun

I only upgraded mine because i sometimes use it to slash people when they get close or have low health. I do like 50-70 damage a swing, which can work if your following up a big hit or they keep charging you and it adds up. Id say its barely worth using anymore however and that it has no need for an upgrade if your just using it to boost your spells.
