What is a God? (LORE THREAD)
Dark Souls never explains what a God is. It is mentionned that Lloyd, Gwyndolin, Fina, Flann, Manus, Nito, Gwyn, Gwynevere, The Nameless King, the Titanite Blacksmith, McLoyf, Velka, the Witch of Izalith, Faraam, Nehma, Caitha, Galib, Kremmel, Evlana, Hanleth, Nahr Alma, Zinder, Quella and Caffrey are all "Gods". But what is a god? I think it is ruled out that linking the fire makes you a god, because Manus didn't, and none of the 5 Lord of Cinder in III are not Gods. The Dark Souls 2 Gods carry very little lore besides Caitha and Nahr Alma, with some never being mentionned but on the Engraved Ring, which really doesn't help in finding out what a God is. I'm going to put forward a theory, that perhapse a God is the highest possible rank one can achieve royally, essentially above the King or Queen, or Lord. What are your thoughts?

Kremmel smiles upon your slaughter and gifts you his +2 ring of thorns for killing 500 people as an invader.

For a god of struggle he sure does love killing people.

Skeleton Knight in BERSERK always refers to Guts as the Struggler.

Just a vague stab in the dark: One possible qualifier could be the inception/acquisition of a unique and extremely potent source of power through one's efforts or means (Gwyn/Age of Fire, Lord's souls, etc...). Manus wouldn't qualify because Manus is a being of the Abyss, which existed (as far as I'm aware) before all else in the world's lore.
pretty sure gods are a race, a different type of being, just like humans and giants.
