So is Lothric supposed to be Lordran?
Why is Anor Londo in this game, other than fan service?

If i understand the hints right - when they say Lands of Lords converge around Lothric - they mean it LITERALLY.
Something happened and now different lands, kingdoms and probably even continents got mashed together into a single place, Lordran included.
Hence why Lothric stands on a high mountain with a broken bridge - it got elevated above everything else when lands crashed into each other.

You get more evidence to that when you reach Kiln Of the First flame at the end of the game - you can see twisted buildings overlaping on each other, standing at impossible angles and only the Firelink Shrine stands straight and untouched on the edge of the world.
So yeah, this is not a metaphor, this is an actual things that is happening to this world unles Kiln of the First Flame is some kind of separate reality.

That's cool, thanks for the reply. Where does the game hint at these things?

Intro sinematic:
"It is called Lothric. Where the transitory lands of Lords of Cinder converge."

The place where you use the banner for weird gargoyl creatures to get you to the undead settlement - it's a start of a bridge, yet the bridge itself is like hundreds of meters down, hinting that either Lothric had risen or everything else around crumbled down creating a difference in height tus why the bridge is destroyed.

Also it makes very little sense how such a vastly different places with different history and aesthetic are all in the same place (by which i mean - this close to each other). It even feels like they got mashed up into one.

Deadly falls and bottomless pits everywhere, as if the world is crumbling to pieces.

I mean... What are the chances that homes of 4 powerful Lords of Cinder are so close to each other it takes a hour of walking hour to get from one to the other?
I'd say pretty little, unless something caused their homelands to converge into a single place.
As the sinematic intro hints us.

I see!

The latter is probably due to game design-ness. More for convenience than anything else.

Miyadzaki promised some heavy lore drops in the next DLC so we can look up to that.
I hope he's not lying or at the very least we get some actual answers.

Well, historically these developers have always chosen to be incredibly vague, so I am pretty sure we are guaranteed that.

It says in the intro why it's here. Places of great power are brought to the nearest active shrine, and Anor Londo housed the God, Gwyndolin.

Profaned Capital was under Irithyll though, so that kinda makes sense, but I guess Aldrich was supposed to be at the Cathedral, he just took off to Anor Londo. Kinda makes you think if he hadn't gone to eat Gwyndolin, he'd probably be fought as a giant slug surrounded by a swarm of deacons, maybe eating them at random as the fight goes on to recover health or something.

Farron Keep I agree on, since the transition to go to Catacombs then boom suprise Boreal Valley is here. That one made no sense to me whatsoever. Like you can see at the big bridge in the beginning that the actual path leading to the valley has collapsed, but it just seems wack that there's a path at the side that leads up to some old tomb and oh don't touch that chalice on the table anyone you'll regret it.

You can see the boreal valley at any point in the game, and you can see the abyss watchers arena from the boreal valley, it makes sense. It's not a social place, and it hasn't been touched by humans in a long time, hinted by Greirat.

Also, remember the Catacombs never used to be Catacombs, they were the underlayer of the Carthus Desert, who were obviously friendly with the Boreal Valley.

Ye but I mean that's about the part about the lands being teleported into each other. I can see Irithyll not being this close to Lothric and Settlement and Farron Keep, it might've been wherever far away from everywhere else at the other end of the world. But like Settlement and Cathedral are lore wise close to each other, Farron Keep maybe not. Irithyll and the Profaned Capital were right ontop of each other apparently, since they discovered the Capital under the Dungeons.

Man, where do you guys hear all this stuff? I've been playing the game for over 600 hours and never seen mention of the Carthus Desert!
