Hi, I had a problem with my xbox one controller on a new PC but not my old one and saw MANY threads about this issue even a post on reddit claiming that this was unfixable for some people.

What went wrong was I had neglected having a fully updated windows computer which was blocking the driver for my xbox controller (XINPUT Compatible HID Device) saying that this driver was unverified.

To resolve the issue I made sure that windows was up to date. ( Which was a chore using windows 7 because updates are broken and need another update service I found the info to do this at sevenforums searching for windows 7 update stuck at checking for updates, the solution I used was on page 3 written by Tyler1118 )
Once I was absolutely sure windows was up to date I went to control panel>(small icons)Device Manager>HUman Interface Devices> where I saw HID Compliant Game Controller
I right clicked on HID Compliant Game Controller chose properties>Driver Tab>Update Driver>Browse my Computer>Let me pick from a list>Selected XINPUT compatible HID device>Next and had my controller working for DS3 again.

Some other known issues that can block your controller are having multiple controllers plugged in as DS3 will choose a controller at random to take input from. For testing I suggest keeping it simple down to a mouse, keyboard, and controller you want to use plugged in.

These solutions may not work for everyone but they did work for me.

i got nothing, i dont know whats wrong. ive been using this same controller since release. now all of a sudden DS3 doesnt recognize it anymore

i fixed it...
my problem was my new mouse... (Roccat Tyon)
after i used my old mouse (resrta pc) DS3 workd again with controller...

Fromsoft really needs to look at this problem if their game is picking up mice as the primary game controller.
Asking people to disconnect other game devices is annoying but at least possible. Using a PC without a mouse or else not having controller support in the game is a big problem for a game marked for controller support.
It doesn't even need to be a big fix, a nice GUI selection for picking which controller would be great but I would be happy if it were even just in a basic text config file.
