Why does everyone use a Chaos infused dagger for ripostes instead of Dark infused?

Surely dark would be a better infusion since fire defence scales with strength, or is there something special about chaos for ripostes that I just don't know about?

Probably force of habit from DSI, where Chaos Daggers were pretty much the go-to for backstabs

Dual damage is worse in this game, even with higher AR. The only advantage to elemental infusions is that you don't need to buff it to raise the AR, and thus can use it as a quickdraw weapon.

uh chaos / dark are for int/faith builds. There is nothing wrong with that. As for daggers it increases the crit.

That's for normal attacks. For critical attacks with hornet ring a chaos infusion is better.

yeah, dark infusions crits are bugged, sadly. also, if you have a pure STR build, a fire dagger is better than an heavy or refined one (I have no idea whether or not deep infusions are bugged too).

idk what elemtal daggers are actually bugged, but chaos dagger without any high attributes (it gets crazy scalling in all 4 stats) deals even higher critdamage than for example an deep dagger WITH HIGHER AR

no that was a long time ago elemental infusions are good now
electric and magic are the perfect mélée option to clerics and mages respectivily but Dark is amazing and worth building full mélée builds around it's like quality but better because you can tchip truw shields with it
