Opinions on Thrall Axe?

I'm working on leveling my Deprived-Going-Pyromancer, figured starting at SL 1 would allow for more efficient stat placement over Pyromancer

Focusing on keeping Str and Dex as low as possible, which excludes most of the fire/dark weapons in the game, but then got a Thrall Axe with it's low requirements and Quick Step, and I'm loving it, it's a fun up close and personal weapon and the mobility gets me out of a lot of tricky situations

I'm thinking of making it Chaos when I get to the Giant's Coal (Maybe with a Dark for enemies resistant to Fire) but I wanted to see what people thought of the weapon because I see literally no one ever mentioning it

The Thrall axe is pretty good, but I prefer the Hand Axe. I think it has better scalings overall, including when you infuse it. It can be a beast with its damage output at higher scalings.

Thrall axe can be used in a Big Daddy build
heaviest armor + Iron Flesh + Thrall axe + Weapon art shield/Parry shield = scary stuff

I use Winged Knight Twinaxes for that stuff mostly. The damage output on those things is insane.

the advantage with the thrall axe is that the weapon art can move you even when you are weighed down to a crawl

Thrall Axe is amazing if you wanna Havel Armor through everything. For general use though, there are better options.

I was thinking about throwing in Iron Flesh since Quick Step off sets the mobility penalty...thought it would be pretty hilarious

Anyway, thanks for the feedback! I'll try infusing it with Chaos and seeing how that works out and keep an eye for other options if it ends up being a bit too lackluster

Op looking at stats on the weapon screen it looks to me that the thrall ax maybe one of those weapons with the the issue of everything it does something else does better.
However with that said, I salute your efforts to use a weapon abandoned by the community.

And still, nobody ever uses the Claymore's weapon art. It's slow and predictable so the only use is trading damage but good luck with that, the PvP community doesn't have the decency to fight you and just passive play.
