question about passwords
Sorry if this is stupid, but - if I leave a certain password in for a while, that doesn't block everyone else out, right? If I have "1234" for a password, and someone else within my soul level parameters comes along, they can still see my summon sign, right?
I'm almost certain the answer is "yes" but I wanted to check ...

No , unless they also use the same password

They can't see it for being manually summoned by you or summoning your sign. You can still be invaded/auto-joined (covenant like Darkmoon) despite the password though. Your password doesn't go into effect until you go to main menu, though, I believe.
Password is intended to get around the match making limitations for level/reinforcement. It has some downscaling properties to comensate such as reduced health, reduced damage.

So not putting in any password would be better if I want to get summoned more often?

With random people? yes.

If you are trying to help or get help from someone in particular you'll need to set a password.

inputing a password is usefull if you only want to play with your friends, also, i think that theres a big chunk using the same "community password" from Bloodborne, vinnco

No, your password works instantly. Put a password on to co-op with friends, take it off for red sign duels with randoms.

Doesn't seem to apply until I go to main menu. Can set it with someone on discord already with sign down and sign will not appear until main menu. Can remove it and sign will still be there until main menu. Maybe if enough loading screens are passed it might take effect, not sure, but has been unreliable without going to main menu for me. Just tested it and could see plenty of normal signs (same signs) before and after I set it in swamps around bonfire.
