Truthfully I think it's one of the most beautiful areas in any of the souls games (Majula, Irithyll of the Boreal Valley, and Anor Londor are close contendors as well). Even though it might be short and the DLC can be hated on for being the same price as The Ringed City, it's still probably my favourite DLC from the series. Friede is an amazing boss and when you think she's done she keeps coming back for more surprises. It's difficult, yet fun and fair, exactly what a boss fight should be. Gael is also amazing, but fights like Midir, The Belfry Gargoyles, and Pontiff are just annoying if you get bad RNG. Ganks and Overpowered attacks are just really annoying to deal with. The weapon variety and also the most beautiful weapons the Scythe from Friede and the Dark Sword from Vilhelm are incredible, and the environements are a lot larger than they seem if you actually take time to explore them for more things. Take the giant tower around the back side of the first area where you can actually encounter the giant wolf before even entering the fight. I didn't even know that area existed until my third time through the DLC.

Basically, don't just judge a book by it's cover. Appreciate the lore and depth to this DLC rather than just speedrunning through it to the boss and saying "that's it?" It has more to offer than you think and I would reccomend it even if it might not be perfect.

86/100

Some areas are. While others are breathtaking.
