Can't summon friend, we're trying to figure it out.
So I have a character SL131 with 2 +10 weapons, a SL88 with a +10 and a +9.
My friend SL 72 with a +5 sunlight sword and +9 astora greatsword cant summon or be summoned, by either my SL131 or SL88 Even after putting in a password.
We both started new characters and were able to summon each other at high wall of lothric, no problems there.
But my SL131 got summoned to kill Vordt, and the guy that summoned me had an arbalest, how did he get it when it drops in Cathedral of the deep? My SL131 killed soul of cinder but didn't progress to NG+.
My friend used seek guidence and saw my sign but couldn't interact with it.
How is it someone who hasn't killed Vordt was able to summon my SL131 but my SL72 friend can't? But our brand new noobs can

1. If a boss is alive, you can summon. If boss is dead, you cannot.
2. If weapon +5 is max than it should be equal +10.
3. Check the password. How another guy was able to summon you if you used a password?

Place summon signs after changing the password. If you drop a sign then put in a password it's still a public sign until dropped again. The person who summoned you for vordt was obviously in a higher ng+ cycle.

If your Still having trouble finding your friend, try these.

-First make absolutely sure you and your friend are in the same location. (You can see the name of the bonfire when you sit at it)

-Make sure you have used an ember before you summon. This will allow summon signs to show up. If your looking to be a summon you do not need to be embered.

-Set a password for your game in the settings tab of the menu. It is case sensitive (as far as i know) so if your password has any capitals in it let them know.

-The password system will allow any player of any level range to join you. If the level difference is large it may take a bit for the sign to show up.

-Also make sure that both of you are not putting signs down at the same time, this will make all other signs disappear. Only one player should be dropping a sign (the one looking to help).

-This sometimes is not known but your signs will not be visible to each other if the person trying to summon has already defeated the boss of the area. So the area boss must still be alive in order to summon white phantoms at all.

Hope some of this helps.

I took password off and went to see if someone could summon my SL131 at Vordt.
With the password our brand new characters were able to summon each other.
He hasn't killed Oceiros, my SL88 with a +10 greatsword couldn't be summoned by my friend SL72 with a +5sunlight sword, right outside the fog gate.

I didnt think someone from NG+ could summon someone on NG, my SL131 hasn't moved to NG+ until im done with DLC

NG cycle doesn't matter in ds3 you can be a brand new character and summoned to a ng+6 world as long as the host is still within your SL and WL range

First of all, i edited your post to only have useful info, that does affect password matchmaking in _any_ way.

There are two types of signs, white and red. You can only see a white sign if you have a boss alive in this area (Like when you are brand new noobs at high wall of lothric with Vordt alive). Thus, when you got summoned to help with a boss, your white sign was visible because host had a boss alive at that area.

Bosses being alive or dead for host is the only change different characters can present to summoning, apart from being embered, ofc. Network settings, passwords and softbans are global, so if any of your characters can be summoned, others can be, too.

I don't have time to read the thread right now but: if you checked everything is right and you still can't see eachother, if any of you two play the game in a language different than english or japanese, change it to english and check if you got banned. Today is a "banwave wednesday".

that range seems to be enourmous... I have a lvl 250 (I just mess around on him) and I was able to summon my lvl 50 friend (with password)

My settings show "Account good in VAC standing" and never received a notice from the game."
Unless we're messing it up by both putting our summon signs down to see if it will show up. We are gonna try patiently waiting for 1 sign to appear with a password.

DS3 doesn't use VAC. Check your inventories for an item called white circlet (I believe that was the name) If you can use it, you have a ban on you, it lifts the ban essentially

I was wondering what the Way of the White Circlet was. Won't let me use it. Not sure what I did wrong, there was a day I did pick up an ember from an invader. If I can use that means I have a ban, or just having it on me, means I'm banned.

Because when you use a password, it negates any level or weapon difference and still allows connections. The normal range without passwords is 10 levels, plus 10% of your current level, and weapons are : plus or minus 2 levels. So at 250 your normal summon range is 215- 285.

Dude if you could summon each other on your fresh created characters, you are not banned. Pay attention to what i wrote in my first reply here.
Zehk Naerun Sep 13, 2017 @ 3:40am
From what I am reading, both of you are putting down signs. The person who wants to summon should not place a sign, as when they do all other signs become invisible to them, even with password match on.
