And to not get oneshoted by mega parries (provided you have 40 vigor and RoF).

That's why Fashion Souls is worthwhile in DS3; what you're wearing matters less than whether or not you're wearing something at all. Like it or not, the system in DS3 was deliberately designed to nerf havel monsters and giantdads out of existence.
