Is Caestus any good?

People might cheese you with the range though, especially when they know you can not parry.

I think its a good idea to have 2 caestus so you can swap to a parry mode.

Fist weapons in this game are fairly meh; youll get better results using other weapons.
As someone who has done a fist weapon playthrough, I can say it is still fun.

Punching Weapons:
Caestus
Dark Hand
Demon's Fist
Unarmed

Demon's Fist is all around very fun and the weapon art can catch people off guard in PvP; however it is a boss weapon obtained from the Demon in catacombs before Wolnir. Its damage is all around okay, but much like the Dark Hand it will suffer falloff in the later game.

Use the Dark Hand if you want to do a lot of damage early-mid game, but look like a scumbag while doing it, can be obtained right after Vordt for the enterprising individuals.

Most people use the Caestus for parrying, but because of perseverance it can make a decent stunlock pvp weapon, however it is outdamaged by the above two as far as raw numbers go.

Unarmed... scales with strength...


I personally had a lot of fun comboing curse ward greatshield with demon's fist. All punch weapons are really close weapons ( no ♥♥♥♥ ) so having the curse ward is pretty handy as it doesnt hinder your ability to weapon art; and you will easily meet the requirements to use it if you build for a punch build.

With Caestus you can equip one in left hand, buff it, then equip the right one without taking off left and buff it with different element so you can have fire and lightning in each hand cause FROM didn't bother giving gem infusions/elemental weapons any real visual effects except frost. :P
They aren't amazing but they are alright. :P I have seen people do decent with Demon Fists as recommended and Dark Hand has its uses.

would probably be better to infuse the right caestus with something like sharp or heavy so he can use a resin on it.
