Zweihander or Claymore?
I have both of them upgraded to +3 and they both seem good however...

Claymore swings faster and has a faster weapon art animation to break enemy guards but the Zweihander, throwing people in the air with an oversized weapon can be very satisfying.

Another thing is that the Zweihander seems to scale better than the Claymore for me (49+ Zwei. 40+ Claymore). I also prefer to be able to stagger large enemies and Zwei does a better job at it than the Claymore (Obviously)

Also, for an ultra greatsword, it swings fairly quick.

But which is better for PvE? Should I just stick with what I like best or should I choose one of these?

I am also looking into the Greatsword (Just Greatsword. You know, the big ass huge one from DS2). I don't have the required strengh for it though. I want it just because it was my main weapon in DS2 and I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ loved it.

Both suck. I recommend you wait until you get Black Knight Sword or Black Knight Greatsword and use that instead. For now just use Exile Greatsword.

Greatsword also sucks, use Black Knight Greatsword instead. Lothric Knight Greatsword is also pretty good.

I don't recall the Lothric Knights having greatswords...

And I can't use Exile and I probably can't use Black Knight Greatsword either because I probably don't have the requirments. I also have to farm that damn lone Black Knight in the Farron Keep.

they do; you're just early. LKGS isn't seen till Lothric Castle after Dancer. Best "Greatsword" in the game in my opinion since the game technically classifies it as an UGS despite the name and allows you to hyper armor through alot of things and kill players in 3 shots max when fully kitted out.

BKGS is also good. Also, most larger swords are meant to be held two handed anyway for the hyper armor.

Otherwise? Claymor is just a heavier, slower longsword that hits harder. Decent moveset ad damage, but, in my opinion, holds a wierd place.

Zwei would be my suggestion between the two. Astora GS above either though.

I don't care about PvP. Only PvE

I have heard that Astora GS doesn't scale and becomes underwhelming later in the game.
So far I think I am going to try to get the BGKS. Maybe switch to LKGS later when I get it.

Astora GS =/= Astora STRAIGHT Sword. The former is one of the best scaling weapons in the entire game, regardless of what infusion you slap on it, the latter is now nerfed to hell and outclassed.

I don't like the Astora GS weapon art... Is it still worth it?

You can clear the game with just about everything man, you don't use weaponarts much anyway. R1 is the best button for PvE.

Also it's a matter of your build. The Zwei goes best with a Heavy infusion and a pure Strength build, the Astora GS goes best Sharp with a pure Dex build, the Lothric Knight GS aswell, the Black Knight GS is best on a quality (40 Str/40 Dex) build.

I want to go for a balanced build. I am not trying to go for a pure strengh/dex guild so I guess I am going for Black Knight GS.

Oh, and 40/40? You think souls grow on trees? Plus, there are other stats that are more important for me right now (I have nearly no luck or stamina!) and I need those souls to upgrade and buy new ♥♥♥♥ too!

-_- 40/40 is balanced

Souls do grow on 'trees' considering how easy it is to get them just going forward.

I have no idea why you think you need luck while using any og the weapons you mentioned. That's for bleed/poison builds.

You really should be saving worrying about farming and getting everything just right after you get to something like andor londo where you can farm two silver nights for 10K souls in like 1 min.

As long as you can do two swings with a large weapon and a roll your good. That's about 22 END and Prisoner Chain. If you need extra souls just go kill the lady that gave you the banner, kill the dancer, run through lothric for souls and stones for upgrades and go get the Chain from Champion Gundyr. I do this every time I start a new toon as soon as possible (SL20-something) and it pretty much makes souls and upgrades a non-issue
