Why is pyromancy terrible for Ringed City?
Keep hearing people say Pyromancy is total trash for the DLC and that youll have a hard time. My fire orb spell only does 300 damage to Harald Legion guys at 40/40 and +10 flame, which is bad but not useless. Also the wiki shows that most of the enemies have weaknesses against fire, and also lightning. Dark orb pyro is killing the wierd lothric knights in 3 hits which is great.

So my question is at what point does pyromancy become useless? Im assuming I just havent hit the point that it happens yet, as there is tremendous bias against it across the internet. People straight up saying its useless and mandatory to change playstyle/build for RC.

Boring, why don't you look into your cookie cutter guide and ask them who claimed it?

Well I think Midir is fire resistant (I mean he is a dragon...) but other than that I don't think pyro is awful there. Just that everything will be a lot more resistant to everything by virtue of it being the final, final area.

Also those harlod legion guys are only weak to plunging attacks, otherwise they're pretty resilient against most things.
The Demon Scar, one of the biggest improvements for pyromancers, why are you even complaining?

I dunno about that, i went to the ringed city my first time with a quelana cosplay at ng+.
I had to use magic spells (pestilent mercury) only for the fire resinstant boss, and i killed the harald legion the easy way using an onyx blade.
Pyros may be a bit more hard to play in the ringed city from some point of view, but if you try different spells and strategies i don't think you'll find them useless.
Good luck keeping the pyromancy alive!

LMAO

Pyromancy is not "faceroll good" on the DLC like the rest of the game, but it is still very good.

-Great combustion+parting flame stunlocks harald knights while doing good damage.

-Chaos/vestiges will one shot trash enemies.

-Black flame wrecks everything else, including ringed kights.

-Can use black flame/orb and Dorhy's gnawing for the first boss.

-Pyro build means you have enough int to use mercury for optional boss too.

Only a noob would think pyro is bad for ringed city.

I played ringed city for the first time with my onyx blade pyro build,

Demon Prince takes little to no damage with pyro spells and onyx blade hits like 30% of an exiled curved sword would .
Midir was impossible for me with a pyro so I scummed it with Pestilent Mercury.
Gael also punishes spells hard and takes less damage than a STR build would do to him.
Church spears and Shira are easy no matter your build is.

So yes, pyro builds have a harder time but it's still doable on your own.

Pyromancy is basically useless against Midir mostly. Resistant to fire and dark for the most part, I had to switch to a pestilent mercury and lightning arrow setup for that fight and summon someone in. Gael is also resistant to dark , so using poison is advised. I think the problem is that people focus too much on a literal version of pyromancy. They expect a fireball flinging caster, but with most builds you have at least 30/30 int/faith so you can use a lot of different pyromancies, sorceries, and miracles. Make sure you have the izelith staff for sorceries and a chime or talisman all fully upgraded for the DLC and it'll be manageable. Also, if you are kind of a "pure" pyromancer, try the onyx blade or witch's locks if you haven't already. Also, dark hand can come in handy and weighs nothing. The truly difficult part I found about the dlc was deciding between seething chaos or the wep for transposing the demon prince soul.
