Is the Barbed Straight Sword any good?
I know the best weapon is the one you like best but I want to make sure that I am not wasting my titanite to upgrade.

I am using a Claymore +3 and a Grass Crest Shield with the Thorn Armor set (Before, had Starting Class Knight armor)

It's ok for a straight sword. Compared to others it's a bit on the short side, for pve though this won't matter too much. Against some bosses + carthis rouge it can be pretty effective although if you are looking for bleed proc the bandit's dagger is a better choice

Daggers? Oh, please no.

So I am better off with the Claymore and there are other way better straight swords than the Barbed Straight Sword?

Claymore is a perfectly good weapon for your first playthrough since it has a good mix of thrust attacks and the 1h r1 which is good for crowd control. Longsword and lothric knight sword are probably the better options to the barbed ss if you don't really care about bleed.

To be honest though, there isn't exactly a limit on titanite since you can buy unlimited shards early on and large shards once you get to anor londo.

Get a bunch of different swords, upgrade them all to +3 and compare them all, see what you prefer the most, then upgrade the one you want to use further. If you plan on doing more playthroughs after this one, just upgrade everything and use your first char as a weapon tester

Looks like I am keeping the Claymore then.
