Why is DS3's netcode so terrible?
I mean it's not like any of the Dark Souls games are known for good netcode, but DS3 seems to be the worst by far. From covenants being broken, to tons and tons of aborted summons and failed summons, to connection errors, to all the lag and system related issues (sliding, shimmering/teleporting/rubberbanding, invisible people, etc.). Why is it so bad?

Works as Intended.

It isn't just DS3. The entire series has horrible netcode. You should go watch old Demon's Souls vids and watch backstabs that occur directly to the right or left of some. It is just assinine.

I said as much in my original post, but DS3 seems to be the worst, and considering it's the newest you would think it would be the best...

The only people still playing DS3 pvp are probably low intelligence first worlders or poor foreigners. The invasion mechanic isn't as unpredictable as it used to be and there's no way to stop anyone from cheating if they want to.

I imagine more people than ever are probably playing single player. Those who aren't, are going to be those who don't care about rolling around in the mud pointlessly as they are easily amused.

Dunno, it seems better than DS2 to me.
At least in a sense that when ♥♥♥♥ breaks - it just breaks and you and host just can't do anything about each other.
I had multiple hosts who just float around in the same pose and no fight was happening because they weren't dealing any damage to me or at least i wasn't seeing any attacks.

I prefer that over being facestabbed to be honest. At least i can just black crystal out if something goes wrong.

Yo. IT'S not the first time I've seen ya beef on the series(for a mix of right and wrong reasons) but it's pretty tactless to call people stupid in a first world country when you show up to bash the game whenever you feel like. They haven't always been good about it let's be real but you're confusing fact for your own opinion.

Souls games have weird netcode indeed. Take the boss invasion glitch - you do certain actions during invasion messages, you appear in host's world as a hybrid phantom. How is that even possible? I believe action buffering is at fault here - they implemented it to reduce network usage by sending data in packages rather than a continuous stream of data, and that's the cause of lag and all the other issues. Online part is so broken in all Souls games, but especially Demon's Souls. Watch some DeS pvp videos on Youtube and you'll see what I mean.

Pro-tip, FromSoft: DON'T use your in-house engine for your next game. Just don't do it.

How many "celebrity souls players" dropped this game again? Oh yeah, almost all of them. I figured it out before they did! Sorry, the game's PVP is garbage. If you have half a brain, it's time to move on.

What a way to be a d*ck.

Those "celebrities" can do what they wan't, i don't mind, meanwhile people like me genuinely enjoy the game because we just do.

What's up with people telling other people how and what they should enjoy and do? That's just silly.

Oro, Peeve, Yukas, and Lobos have been playing it a lot recently. Just because Only Afro is having a ♥♥♥♥ time, and not making memes, it doesn't mean people are not playing it.

Way to come out as an utter imbecile.

There's also InfernoPlus who droped the game because he doesn't like the PvP gameplay anymore and now he cameback to DS1 and DS2 (and sometimes even Demon Souls)

And OP, have you played the other games? In DS1 you can get hit by spells that hit trees that are 10 feet away from you, and in DS2 phantom range is more often than not a tool to deal damage.

Then we have Revhion, Mr. Skelleton, Otzdarva ...

The only one that is kinda sad that left the game is ParagonDS. He made good cinematic lore vids. Inferno had a boom, but meh.
