Wasted Vordt boss soul so now I can't obtain Pontiff's Left Eye ring?
Like any normal player I used the Soul of Boreal Valley Vordt to obtain souls and level up then later I realized it was a regeant/materal needed to craft the OP life stealing ring called Pontiff's Left Eye ring. As far as I know there is no way to repeat this boss since he's dead and doesn't show up when I go to the same area again. Am I going to have to restart a new character to obtain this ring or is there any way that I can avoid being thoroughly ♥♥♥♥♥♥ by this horrid game design?

Go to ng+ or get someone to drop the ring, ya saltlord

You can still finish this game without that ring. Either you trade or ask if someone has a spare.

There is a way to repeat the boss though: finish the game, start new game+.
Btw this is the only way to obtain a certain sword that is made of 2 other swords that are made form the soul of the same boss.
So basically you can only make this particular sword after defeating the game twice, and you have to complete it 2 times more if you have to have the previous 2 for your collection.

It's not "horrible game design" you probably should know better than wasting soul of a boss.
I learned that the hard way in Dark Souls 2. Now you did too.

You had a choice to forge one item from the soul, you picked one. Ofc you can't use the soul again since it's already been transposed into something.

Go to ng+ or get someone to drop the hammer, ya saltlord
No need to call names. At the time I had no idea I could get the ring so I used it. Pardon me for not wanting to tab out and google all 20 billion items that drop in the game...

"Saltlord" is hardly a mean name, and it's a fair response to accusing the game of having horrid design.

I'm entitled to my opinion. Lets not stray off topic or this whole thing will get deleted by overzealous mods. Artek if i start a new game now will it delete my old character? I'm scared to even click the button otherwise I may loose all my progress so far.

Derplord doesn't tab out and google stuff every 5 min. He has better things to do. Apparently the devs force me to though. Horrid game design in my opinion. I want to play the game not work on a homework assignment.

I recently finished the game and never used that ring, there are multiple regen type rings you can get. One is perma regen, one is regen from killing, and that one.

It's not anywhere near as big a deal as you think it is.

You can start a new character if you want, it won't impede your progress on that save. But they were talking about New Game+

NG+ is available after you've beaten the game once, it allows you to start over again with your stats and all your gear, albeit the game is even harder this time around.

Well you can start a new character (which is actually a good decision, because vordt is an early game boss and you wont loose TOO much of a progress). It wont delete the old one, but what's the point then?

OR you can finish the whole game and then just do a new game+ after the final boss.
The game will start all over from the begining, but you'll keep your levels and all of the loot you've collected. Only the journey itself will reset (you will also to do all the things again like opening shortcuts, buying keys to open doors, yadi yada).
Also enemies will become stronger and have increased health pool and damage output.

Well I might wager that old school style RPGs aren't your cup of tea, then. A lot of older RPGs have a lot of minute and miniscule things to keep up with, and don't hold your hand nearly as much.

I hardly call that horrid game design. How dare the game withhold certain items from you for making a mistake!

Thanks for the infos. This is my first taste of DS3 and I wanted to approach it casually. I'll be more careful in the future!
