Okay, so it's mediocre compared to any B/B weapon. Got it.
Only looking for max damage isn't a good way to play the game. Moveset is arguably far more important, and fashion is probably most important of all. You should use what you like, not what's supposedly the best.
More relevant: What weapon do you believe outdamages it? I'm looking at my spreadsheet and it seems pretty damn strong.
What sword is that? I don't see any straight sword that strong unless you're going past 40/40.
Regardless, comparing Straight Swords to Greatswords is, again, ignoring the moveset and other benefits to different weapons and weapon types. A greatsword, for example, could poise through attacks while a straightsword cannot. Then there is range, poise damage, weapon arts, etc.
If I can land PVP kills with the Greatlance, pretty sure many people can land easy wins with the BKGS.
If your only after dps, then obviously a straight sword is the way to go.
It also has a very useful weapon art, unique R2 moveset and it deals bonus damage to poise according to descriptions, which is especially useful in PvE where this sword will much more often break bosses and open them for ripostes and such
