can anyone help with my sound?
Hey, noticed today that sounds that come from sources right in front of me dont play, so for instance to hear dialogue i have to turn my "self" away from the NPC so it comes thru the left or right channels.

If i swing at a wall right in front of me, nothing.

Im using a cheap logitech 5.1 setup, and i dont know much about audio configuration. i realize this isnt a souls topic but i am using souls to describe the problem :P

The center speaker functions, as do all the others, but they dont all play correctly in the test mode. For instance, when the left speaker test, my left, center, and rear left speakers all play.

But when I test the center, nothing plays.

Any help is appreciated!

Are you sure they are all plugged in correctly . The jacks are color coded. Green for Front speakers..black for rear spekers...and if you have an orange colored jack that is for the center speaker.

Stereo cards with just two audio channels will have only the green (output), blue (input) and pink (microphone) jacks.
A few sound cards with 8 (7.1) audio channels do not provide the gray (Middle Surround Speakers) connector. If your computer is equipped with this type of card and you want to use all the 8 channels you will need to connect your motherboard to a 7.1 home theater system using the SPDIF digital connector.
Some motherboards with 4 or 6 channels don't have the black (Rear Surround) and orange (Subwoofer and Center) jacks. These cards will use the blue jack for both line in and rear surround speakers out, and the pink jack for both mic input and subwoofer/center out. Therefore, whenever you want to use any of these jacks for a different function, you will have to manually remove one jack connector and plug in another.

So, my L/R, Rear L/R, and center speakers all plug in to the back of my subwoofer, all color coded, and that has an "audio in" 1/8th that i plug in to my green output.

all the speakers work for things like netflix etc.

Hope this helps

Well if all the plugs that plug into your PC are color coded..they should be correct then. But not necessarily. The colors are pretty standard. There should be more than 1 cable going to your PC however if that is what you are saying. 1 wire can not carry 5 different sound channels.

If the Speaker test is not correct it does not sound lke they are hooked up right though. How many wires ( cables) do you have going to your PC.

Did this happen somewhere else, like in the other game?

Is the 5.1 setup new?

Did you install audio drivers from Realtek at least once?

If you tried microsoft sound in all plugs, described above, but no luck at all, you could try get driver from manufacturer of your desktop/laptop, but do it at your own risk, cause it can even harm.

You should have 3 wires going to your PC from the Speaker system. The wires are not necessarily the same color . Unless of couse you have a green one, a black one , and a orange one.The front speaker cable should plug into the green jack on your PC. The rear speakers should plug into the black jack, and the center/ subwoofer should plug into the orange jack.

Also make sure that your sound driver knows its a 5 speaker system. For example you select 5.1 speaker on the Speaker Configuration in the Realtek Sound Manager.

Only 1. All the satellite speakers plug in to the woofer, then to the PC. Is this unit not meant to be used for a PC??

It hasnt been a problem before, its worked with dozens of games, including DS3. I updated my Radeon driver yesterday, could that have done something to my audio?

I only have the one wire, but it has worked in the past until yesterday. In the realtek sound manager, i can select 5.1, but when i test, the speakers play strangely as i outlined in the 1st post.

Similar problem but my surround sound headset goes in through USB. Disabling/enabling any logitech software stuff has no result and i changed no settings as far as i can tell before experiencing the issue.
