Yeah, it's true. But you only have to travel to the firelink, not to fight for hours. So it's better than nothing :D
Seed of Giant Tree is not worth farming, since it only seems to last for about 30 seconds.
if it stayed active until you died then it'd be totally worth it, but alas...
In my experience, chameleon and white branches are less effective than just throwing on the dark ring and using an emote like "curl up" or "prostration" in a corner. Seriously, it works every time.
Ambient Occlusion doesn't apply to chameleon objects, so unless you're in a particularly bright area or the invader is running minimum settings, you're going to be practically glowing. I've caught hosts before like that.
Speaking of rings and hiding, how well does the obscuring ring actually work? Half of the invasions that I've used it in, it seemed like the host or phantoms could see me just fine from long distance, where I should be invisible with the ring.
I've even emoted at some and had them emote back.
The wiki says it works up until just within lockon distance, but experience says you need to be halfway out of rendering range.
Its a bit farther out than lock on distance, also depends on area (like elevation). I find the slumbering and obscuring is a better combo if you want to be sneaky.
At the time I posted this tutorial, seed of giant tree actually lasted forever in your game, unless you died or launched a boss battle. So it was worth it. Now it isn't
Once an invader or two comes in, wait for the blues, then go through the fog gate to the boss. You get the invasions to trigger the chances for the seed, and blues get a concord when the host enters the boss fog with invaders in the world.
I do not know if the blues get one concord total for this, or one per invader, as I have only done this as the host. One day I farmed about 20 seeds, so I handed out 30-50 concords using this method. After a while, some of the repeat summon blues caught on and we had a good time emoting etc while waiting for the second blue. Some of the repeat invaders on the other hand, decided to crystal out immediately on their fourth invasion.
