Dark hand vs demon fists
So I am super new to the game and came across the dark hand. it has allowed me to royally stomp almost everything I have come across but I cant reinforce it. I know with that It will start to become less and less effective and was wondering If I should invest in the demon fists? they have some cool effects but cost more stamina to use. I have tried the demonfist/ dark hand combo, but am not stilled enough at parrying yet to be effective. I know the dark hand can be used as a shield too but I cant strike with it unless its in my right hand. any thoughts?

along with your demon fists in off hand for parry possiblity you want nothing else, thats right. nothing. Switching your demon fist then will give you a bare hand. Bare off hands give you the weapon skill capability, this is how you can then use darkhands weapon art for lifedrain/massive dmg in pvp. I would just keep both. They work well together and you have both dark and fire dmg to work with so no one can be truly resistant to you. I never thought of this combination when i played but mechanically they can work great together.

Edit: Make your darkhand stronger by putting a load of stats into str and dex, demon fists scale with those stats aswell so they wont be wasted.

Ok sweet, I was planning a str/dex combo mostly because thats how I like to play. I'm not that much of a power player. I would prefer to just have fun, however I still need to kill things. I did however find that I suck at parrying. any tips and are ther attacks I cant parry?

Typical rule of parrying, if its huge and they are using it in two hands not in one. Dodge don't parry. Almost everything else even spells are parryable just with proper knowledge of weapon speed. My suggestion is use all the weapons like even in firelink just test em. So you know the speed yourself and can better parry when oponents use them against you. You dont need to upgrade the weapons just swing em around and learn timings. Lag hurts parrying capabilities tremendously so I usually don't even bother parrying and just dodge/backstab when the opponent goes for a slow attack that leaves them vulnerable at the end. Leave the parrying to the kings who have just always had the magic touch.

Edit: to parry spells you need a "spell parry" shield.

Also you'll want to parry before the attack hits you but not before they swing. That is the proper window for parry

Still using Darkhand in NG+3 at SL26 +2 weapons max and will probably work for another couple runs (hoping up to NG+7). You can further boost its damage in PvE (use questionable, especially Clutch Ring, in PvP) using Blindfold mask in DLC Ringed City and the Dark Clutch Ring (forget location). In addition Llyod's Sword Ring if you can dodge decently to remain usually at full hp. Flynn's Ring will slightly boost some of the damage as well (only physical part I believe it was) but this stacks up) if basically naked (very low weight).
