Don't think it too much...If weapon is in the game, its can be used in PvE or PvP...That's why they put it in game o n the first place...Keep it simple man...There's no need to split hairs over it...

The only thing they nerfed was speed of rolling L1. Weapon went from overpowered to "just good" after this nerf.

Longest range among longswords, good damage with R1, even better with L1 if you can land it and UGS-like damage with rolling L1+leo ring if you make a counter. Unparriable L2 (only first hit).

They are good for pve also but longsword or lothric knight sword are better.

No. Because people stopped using them a long time ago after they were nerfed. It wasn't just the rolling L1, but the whole 'true' combo.

They are superb in PvE and PvP tho, that is, if you can make them work without spamming the L1 roll all the time. I only use them on my INT/DEX build (50/20, previously being 40/30). The main weapon is MLGS + Quills, but i also switch to Astora GS + Gotthard to change things up a bit. However i had to sacrifice buffing over split damage. Any Twinswords, especially at Quality or Pure Dex + Buff are superb in PvE.

It's still pretty legit, even after the nerf. It was actually broken before, so the nerf was appropriate.

Straight up Dex or Refined build is plenty with this weapon. The fact that it has the biggest range out of all straight swords is really important. The range is deceptive. I suggest you give it a try, you'll be able to outspace stuff you couldn't with a regular longsword, for example.
