1) drop rate is not very high so you anyway want to stack as much item discovery as you can
2) if you attack mimic with some very small damage move (when he is open but did not drop anything, althoug you bette wait a bit to make sure) he will go sleep instantly saving your time.
Nope that happend for me 10 times in a row for each character I made.
Recently I made a new save file after the last couple of patches and I got the Symbol first mimic I killed, the one with the deep battle axe
No, it was there way after I killed the mimic. I usually stop by there after I kill them all and I've gotten it pretty consistantly over several characters.
10 times in a row on the last kill is not random or luck, it must be programmed that way, if not 100% chance it must be like 90%
I assume it's the same for this installment.
I believe there is some truth to his statement, but it isn't 100%. When the game first released this was info on the wiki page. I believe the final living mimic in the base game has a massively boosted chance of dropping it if all other mimics are dead. Most people seem to get at least one per playthrough (I have never had a playthrough during which it hasn't dropped and I have never used the hunter charm method to farm).
Your experience is anecdotal, I understand your convinced that is true since its happened to you numerous times, but its been proven time and time again in countless threads on this. If what you say WAS true, then it would happen to more than just a handful of people, it should happen to everyone, and clearly that is not the case.
So you mean using undead charm simply makes it easier to get the drop? I was under the impression that using it multiple times gives it another chance to drop something each time. Is that how it works? People say you can just keep spamming undead charm on a mimic and eventually it will drop, insinuating that each charm use has the chance to spawn the symbol of avarice.
