How to get Symbol of Avarice?
Im having a hell of a time getting this. Ive heard throwing Undead Hunter Charms at it repeatedly works best for farming but I think this was patched/fixed or something because Ive been doing that for the past hour and a half to no avail. Does anyone know if that even works? Or how specifically your supposed to do it?

Ive gotten it on my first mimic chest at High Wall once, and on other playthroughs Ive gone through the entire game and never gotten it, its very iritating. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Ive been going at it for 3 hours now, basically save scumming, reloading a backup over and over. Its at the point where I think its not possible, like theres a predetermined drop for each mimic, unique to your specific playthrough. Thats only explanation I can think of because despite even abysmal drop rates, youd think after killing mimics 40 times that youd get the symbol of avarice. I mean thats more than the amount of mimics in the entire game.

I hear ya. On 2 of my chars I did not get it until NG+ for some reason. No idea.

what you heard is correct. there are couple of things to take into accout:

1) drop rate is not very high so you anyway want to stack as much item discovery as you can

2) if you attack mimic with some very small damage move (when he is open but did not drop anything, althoug you bette wait a bit to make sure) he will go sleep instantly saving your time.

If you kill all the mimics, the Symbol of Avarice will be where the Lothric Castle one was.

false, you have to farm the mimics with undead hunter charms, you just got lucky

Nope that happend for me 10 times in a row for each character I made.
Recently I made a new save file after the last couple of patches and I got the Symbol first mimic I killed, the one with the deep battle axe

that is because the symbol of avarice is a random drop from the mimic, so it has the guaranteed item inside of it + a low chance for a symbol of avarice, the undead hunter charm makes the mimic drop its items without killing so it is a better method overall than killing the mimic and hoping he drops the symbol

No, it was there way after I killed the mimic. I usually stop by there after I kill them all and I've gotten it pretty consistantly over several characters.

10 times in a row on the last kill is not random or luck, it must be programmed that way, if not 100% chance it must be like 90%

well, i guess how mimic drops works is going to be to be a mystery for the end of times

A mystery for you maybe.

I can give you one, I have a spare

In the previous Dark Souls games, all mimics have a small chance to drop one, but the last mimic in the game killed will always drop one if you haven't gotten one yet.

I assume it's the same for this installment.

I believe there is some truth to his statement, but it isn't 100%. When the game first released this was info on the wiki page. I believe the final living mimic in the base game has a massively boosted chance of dropping it if all other mimics are dead. Most people seem to get at least one per playthrough (I have never had a playthrough during which it hasn't dropped and I have never used the hunter charm method to farm).

Your experience is anecdotal, I understand your convinced that is true since its happened to you numerous times, but its been proven time and time again in countless threads on this. If what you say WAS true, then it would happen to more than just a handful of people, it should happen to everyone, and clearly that is not the case.

So you mean using undead charm simply makes it easier to get the drop? I was under the impression that using it multiple times gives it another chance to drop something each time. Is that how it works? People say you can just keep spamming undead charm on a mimic and eventually it will drop, insinuating that each charm use has the chance to spawn the symbol of avarice.
