If you're asking how to upgrade the durability on a katana, just go ahead and upgrade to the Profaned GS.
There's a sign in front of a cement wall that says, "fog wall ahead"
I've broken Smough's hammer trying to get it to open, no luck :(

Though OP, unless you are doing a +0 weapon run or using the Storm Ruler with its 10 durability I wouldn't even worry about it. The stuff will not break. I have actually never seen any equipment ever break. Durability is a pointless stat in DS3.
It's possible. Just requires a metric ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of back to back PvP. Managed it as a blue bro fighting waves of faithful once. Granted I'd already been tearing my way through PvE without stopping at a bonfire.
Anyway, yeah, bonfire refills durability. OP, unless something really out there happens, you have zero durability issues into worry about.
Does it? I've never actually used the thing; I've never had a weapon break on me aside from the one statistical anomaly I mention above.
I'm that case, I guess he might actually have a problem? Though there's a repair spell so still. Just pause between combat breaks to cast it.
by the time they were at risk i had pretty terrible damage on my weapons.
when they broke; tis but a joke.
I had to cut through like 34 people before then and that's when durability wasn't nerfed.
