Siegward wont show up at scripted boss battle, help!

Ok so I gave him his armor AND freed him from his cell, even spoke to him at Irithyll kitchen. At the Yhorm fight he did not show. Wtf? What did I do wrong? I never helped him fight the demon at undead settlement, but questline continued regardless and Ive heard that it isnt even necessary anyway. So does this mean Im just screwed for this playthrough now? I summoned a guy to help, and despite trying to let Yhorm kill me the guy just kept using Storm Ruler ability and Yhorm could only get one hit in, looking back I should have just disconnected/ALT F4'd it.

Please tell me there is some way to rectify this?
Also on a previous playthrough he showed up when I had another coop summon, so obviously that had no effect, only thing I can think of was not helping with demon, even though I killed it later in game (when siegward already left and moved on.) But even then I dont see why the quest would have even progressed from there if it would have broken it.

I DID free him. And even stranger, I returned to Yhorm bonfire from firelink shrine just now, and there was another Storm Ruler just laying on the ground near the entrance to the room. WTF? Thats so wierd, somehow I have two now. What the hell is going on?

I got titanite slab from him and yes I freed him.

I am having trouble understanding your first post, but if I get you right, he died during the first fight against Yhorm.
This is a one shot encounter. If you die it's ok, but if Sig dies you will find his stuff in the boss arena and he is gone for good.

"After saving him from his cell, upon entering the fog wall that leads to Yhorm the Giant, a cutscene will trigger with Siegward walking along side the player into the boss arena. He will not join you in the fight with Yhorm if you skipped an encounter with Siegward, but you can still get the Titanite Slab at the end: the only requirement is that you save him from the well."

Fextralife quote. Killing the Demon with him in Undead settlement is undoubtedly an "encounter" as he gives you a Siegbrau and a gesture.

FML, well that explains that, but what about the random Storm Ruler? I read that he drops one upon death, and considering there was a second one randomly on the floor of Yhorm room, makes me think he glitched out and died. Now making things worse, Greirat died on Irithyll trip, even though I finished the damn questline for Siegward, ugh. I dont understand what happened but I think my games glitched and somehow it killed Siegward or something. Well thanks for the help. :-(

From the wiki:

If Yhorm is killed, before freeing Siegward from his cell, returning to the Yhorm boss arena will have another Storm Ruler on the floor, the armor set is lost in this case.

Edit: For clarification, did you free siegward after killing yhorm?

Sieg leaves his sword, regardless of him appearing or not to help you. The difference is that, if he helps you, youll also get his armor.

Also, sieg needs to still be in irythill in order for greirat get out of there alive..
You might have entered the dungeon b4 greirat completing his pillage, wich would make siegward move to prison and as soon as you kill a boss greirat is f-
