When I found this spell it looked cool and it did alot of damage however it is incredibly situational due to it being easily dodged and can be only used for slow bosses and surprise attacks. I feel like maybe it should have had the mechanic of fire surge. Hold down whatever button you use to shoot and if you let go it stops. It would have made the spell much more effective considering it is end game and you are basically at the second to last boss. However, to balance the mechanic it consumes more mana. Not so much mana that it is considered wasteful yet not too much to be considered OP. Just right... What are your thoughts about this spell and how it should be buffed?

I don't think it needs to be buffed.
A direct hit deals more damage than any other spell in the game.
It travels clear across the map, I'm not even sure of its range.
Anyone that touches it gets floored either way.

Yeah but it can be easily dodged. The only usage for it is for large bosses like yhorm or the king of storms and surprise attacks. And if somebody gets caught they are not gonna get the full power anyways. Which is a shame since it looks freaking cool. Like the Eucild C-Finder in New Vegas. Cool but not that practicial.

Its too bad the lock on range is so meh. That spell should have a zoom option like bows.

What if there was a catalyst that did that instead? Boosting the range of sorceries cast with it (with some exceptions like Soul Stream) and allowing the user to zoom in?

You can target very well with the binoculars.
Someone shared a video on here of an invader doing just that to a large number of hosts.

If you see it coming!

Why not? If you're caught in it you take over 1200 damage.

Sometimes your target will just get knocked back at once and take minimal damage or no damage at all, the hitbox for it is kinda bad, but if you land it very precisely it can be devastating.

Kind of a meh spell really, mainly used as a troll tool but not actually all that useful and requires a lot of setup/luck and gear investment.

Here is a quote from the soul stream page in the wiki of DS3. "This sorcery has multiple damage frames. This means to get full damage out of it, your target needs to standing in the beam for the full duration and enemies can dodge some of the damage if hit while moving." This means that it has damage frames and that means that your target never gets the full force unless if they stand directly in the beam and never move which means you won't get over 1200 at most you would get 600-700 if your target is caught by surprise. Why use the spell if you have other spells that have more damage capabilities like crystal soul spear or homing crystal soul mass. Which can actually be useful in a fight where an enemy is attacking you directly and not sneaking and attacking your enemies by surprise. Again, it's like the Eucild C-Finder in Fallout New Vegas. It's cool but can be easily dodged and there are better alternatives out there.
