Can you level up "too fast"?
Is it fine to level up whenever possible, or should you try to spread your SL at a consistant rate from area to area?

After defeating Vordt (around SL 20), I decided to stock up on embers by helping people through the High Wall of Lothric and defeating Vordt. After a few runs I had accumulated a ton of souls and by the time I defeated the Curse Rotted Greatwood I am SL 34.

Is this something to keep in mind, or am I overthinking this?

Yeah, pretty much. I played a minimal amount of Dark Souls 1 before this, but otherwise I'm inexperienced. Thanks for the response.

Just level up whenever you feel if you dont care for PvP and cooperation.
You will level up apropriatly anyway unless you'll stay in the area to just farm souls for like 10 more level ups.

In case you want to still be able to play with people: its recommended to stop at 120-140 level range. AFter that the amount of people matchmaking will be able to connect you with will keep dropping until they become as rare as unicorns (that'll be past level 200)

Ah, thanks. My main concern was leveling out of range of people currently in the areas I would be in and missing out on summons and invasions.

you re right about that. but as long as you re below 100 there s mostly a good chance, apart from some easy bosses, to find random summons since ng doesnt affect matchmaking i suppose...
and you can always ask at the forum or somethin

Yes, indeed. Matchmaking is not affected by NG cycles.

Matchmaking cares for 2 things: character level and weapon upgrade level (the highest reached ever and it doesn't change even if you sell / destroy the upgraded weapon).

For example, I have a Claymore +2, my upgrade level is +2?

Yes, exactly. Even if you sell it or delete it - the game will still count you as +2 person.
Right now matchmaking will connect you with people with +1 and +3 weapons (and your own, ofc).

As your weapon upgrade start growing somewhere past +6 the matchmaking will change to 2 levels difference i.e. as +8 you will be able to connect to +6 and +10

Thank you very much.

Actually right now you can connect to players with 0 or up to +4, at +6 it jumps up to +9.

Wait, since when?
They just nerfed the matchmaking, like when RInged City was released to avoid twinks

Unless its been changed, its weapon upgrade -2 and +2, untill weapon upgrade 6 in which case it becomes -2 and +3.
