Only option... just another stupidity point in DS3, getting stun locked with a dagger in full heavy armor.,

Well I suck at PvP anyway just one more reason to never bother with it I guess
The PvP section of the game is build around the fact that if the oponent landed 1st R1 attack that he can certainly land 2nd R1 too.
Not in the oposite order though. 2nd R1 stunlock is not long enough for you to start a new 2-hit combo.
The idea is NOT to get hit. You must know break point of enemy weapons (after which attack you can roll away) and use it to your advantage. Answering to R1 spam with R1 spam in hope you can hit back faster than they do doesn't seem to be the option based on my experience.
These rules also apply in PvE section too, at least against certain enemies.
Most of the time you can roll away as fast as after the 1st hit.
its all about tactical retaliation: if you got hit - DO NOT attack back after the stagger, roll away, rethink your options, try to hit first. That's how it always worked.
Or you could try to parry, if you're good with that. Its an option too and can easily turn tides on the oponent. Unless its an un-parriable boss.
Whatcu talkin bout, I stunlocked some fool earlier with the Herald sword when I got summoned to the church, he was in Havel's too..
Because herald is apparently a form of one-handed straight sword.
In any case: how exactly did you stun-lock him? With WA? Because that's like... The main purpose of that thing i believe.
And nope, I was just mashing R1, he must've just been super trash and didn't know how to roll away, but it was pretty funny
the spinging enemies at the start of the boreal valley are a good example, whenever they hit me I only seem to be able to roll out of their spinning combo just before their final hit, it seems kinda pointless to engage in melee if its all down to a game of rocket tags anyway.
How's that?
The change from real poise to 'hyperarmor' by design makes this a game of trades more than anything.
Oh the flaws this game has.
