Starting as a Pyromancer
Any tips? I just made my pyromancer character and I dont really know what to level up, or what weapons to use.
If anyone is an experienced pyromancer, please give me tips!
(I mainly focus on PvE)

yes i have a tip.

start with something else and spec into pyro once you're a higher level.
Unless you want to torture yourself early to mid game, then sure.
lvl int/faith and neglect everything else.
That results in low hp/stamina, 0 weapon damage and mediocre pyro dmg.
But no worries you'll get chaos fireball in smoldering lake so it's only like 3 hours of torture provided you never die.

Sure, here's a tip. Don't become a pyromancer until you are at least lvl 60-70. Seriously, don't. Just play as a knight, thief, or whatever and remember to save a pale tongue and reallocate your stats later. Believe me, pyro sucks early in the game. You have no decent weapons, chaos and dark infusions aren't available from the start and you need certain stats for them to be viable. You'll be better with any other kind of build and a fire infused weapon for enemies weak to fire. Hell, even a torch can do the trick.
Pyromancer is fun because they can also become hexers in the end. I'm not sure what the softcap is, but I guess 35 in each FTH and INT is the ideal. Maybe more, maybe less.

I think for casters, if you are interested in using weapons still, DEX is what you should aim for since it helps you with the casting speed, plus, there are some pyromancy related weapons that mostly use DEX as well.

Also, unlike sorcerers and clerics, pyromancers get their useful spells much earlier. Smouldering Lake can be considered an early area and by going there you can have access to Great Chaos Fire Orb and Chaos Bed Vestiges.

The new pyromancies in the DLC, haven't tested them yet, but they seem fun.

btw, I think you just start as pyromancer instead of other classes. I mean, why not? spells sucks overall early on, but if that's the case, just put points in STR and DEX instead and then go to Rosaria to respec when your SL is high enough and you have the tools already.

The deep axe found on the first mimic under the dragon and a raw infused weapon are your friends. Making the Astora Straight Sword found on the High Wall of Lothric Raw is also a sound choice.

It's a bit of a slog until later in game as others have said, but don't think just because you're playing a pyromancer that you can't use melee weapons. Just don't waste points qualifying for any weapons or armor you don't need.

level 60,70? Best pyromancer at level 168/178 (99 intelligence/faith) end of discussion.

Yeah, Pyromancers are pretty good starting classes since you can use basic miracles and sorceries as well to spice up your game and you can overall use more or less anything. They're not really good at anything, but it's not the worst start if you have no real idea how to play.

The pyromancer teacher is in the Undead Settlement, located in a cage near the farmers throwing firebombs at you in the building above the Bridge Underside bonfire.
