*Spoilers* Usurpation of fire ending, with Anri
When it says I'm going to marry Anri, my character just walks up and stabs her in the face.
Can someone explain this?

Face stabbing is the standard rite of marriage in Londor, and is also the most sincere way of saying "I love you".

Well he/she is already dead by the time you get there. But how our player character knows to stab him/her is beyond me, it's not like Yuria gave you any instructions. I think our player character is just a huge dbag who uses NPCs to their advantage and when they outlive their usefulness, kill them if some other NPC hasn't already killed them.

Let's assume it happened off-screen. Like when travelling between bonfires. That's also when the toilet breaks happen.

Don't worry. He or She is fine. Just an extra hole in her hollow head. No biggies. lels

The "Marriage" was you taking Anri's Dark Sigils to obtain more than your max of 5. It was essentially your initiation into The Church of Londor (Lordran).

What does the dark sigil do?

It's like a running tally for power. Remember all of those free levels you got from Yoel? Each one was another Dark Sigil you earned through going hollow.

What does the dark sigil do?

It allows you to...
Well, usurp the fire
Personally, I don't like this marriage agreement at all. When we get the extra dark sigils, it just means that we get the beef jerk skin way sooner when we die. Since I can't use the untrue ring due to slot issues, this is really annoying. I have to keep a steady supply of skin lotion (aka purge stone) I don't like looking like an ugly zombie. :steamsad:

Once you beat the soul of cinder you can just cure your sigils, they dont follow you to NG+ so...

Oh yeah. There's that. Suppose I should kill him already.

She was already dead.

She appears in the ending cinematic for the usurpation ending, remember, undead are undead for a reason

The scene of the "marriage" was so bloody and cruent and I was surprised to find him/her alive in the end of the NG.
