think of it this way,it punishes recklessness, but rewards smart thinking and curiosity, usually

There are zombies, even if not as scary as in most games.

Why am I even replying to this thread

Well it's a good game though some things might be a bit scary for 10 y olds depending on their pyschology, also he might get cancer from the community

Yes, this is a good starting game.

Edit: But not for a 10 year old.

Rating Category: Mature
Content Descriptors: Blood, Violence

Other: Online Interactions Not Rated by the ESRB (Windows PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One)
Rating Summary: This is an action/role-playing game in which players assume the role of an undead character trying to rise through the ranks in the ancient land of Lothric. Players use swords, clubs, lances, and magic arrows to kill creatures (e.g., skeletons, demons, ghouls, zombies) in melee-style and ranged combat. Battles are highlighted by slashing sounds, cries of pain, and large splashes of blood. Some scenes depict characters impaled on swords or lying in large pools of blood. Players can also attack and kill non-combatant characters without penalty. Boss battles depict more prolonged combat, often with large-scale enemies.

might want to start in offline mode and stay in it for quite a while though, there's lots of other people who will take any chance they can for any win,no matter how small, they can,and will resort to cheating with third-party programs to do so as well, not everyone, but theres still more then there should be.

Don't let him play alone because is a punishing game and not only that.
Could be said the same for ds1 too and even the blacksheep 2 but ds3 is less difficult for some aspect that ds1 . ds2 have so much healing items that you can't die XD.

Lets not forget the piles of corpes at Yhorm for example. Or the sea of corpes at Midir. This is definitely not for a 10 year old.

+ Sorta like N64 Zelda games but grown up. Sorta like Link got a BDSM kink and is now wearing a gimp mask, flaying himself with a Rose of Ariandel. Steep difficulty curve
+ Scary demon bosses etc, kids love this stuff

- Bare bones plot conveyed via cutscenes, lots of reading to do if you are to understand what's going on
- NPC quests that even most adults wouldn't figure out without several playthroughs or use of a guide
- Compared to most other games there are loads of game mechanics to learn and 100+ hours needed to properly come to grips with all aspects of the game (unless you spend days watching youtube videos :estusfull:)
- Pvp opponents that would crush a child's head in

So all things considered, yes

Did you see the video of the 4 year old girl who just pressed R1 till her stamina ran out and won against an invader?

I agree with that, the story and the psychology in Souls games are really Dark (huh huh..) but real life is worst lol, so if you play the game with kids and analyse it with them that's cool, don't let them soloing the game too young in my opinion but that said DS is a good game for theorizing with kids about life and its dark counterparts i think...

I say that for the background story, but the game can be pretty hard for a young kid, its mechanics can really punish you, so some basic but efficient skills are needed, i should also say that souls games like to lost you in their world, so sometimes you don't know what to do or where to go it can be a little bit disappointing for a young, but that said...

I WOULD HAVE LOVE TO DEATH MY UNCLE IF HE GIFTED ME A SOULS GAME WHEN I WAS 10 !!!
