Remember when Basilisks were terrifying?
I remember.

In DS1, curse resistance for most armor was non-existent, and unless you popped some humanities, you'd get cursed very quickly by a Basilisk's curse fog and die an instant death. Getting cursed in DS1 was the absolute worst, because your HP is halved, and to remove the curse, you'd either have to buy and use a fairly pricey Purging Stone or go all the way down to New Londo and get Ingward to remove it. That's why Basilisks are one of, if not the most scary enemies in DS1.

In DS3, curse doesn't build up nearly as fast since almost every piece of armor had at least some curse resistance, and while being cursed still means instant death, it doesn't halve your HP, you just die a normal death, which makes Basilisks nowhere near as scary as they were in the previous games.

I still avoid Basilisk turf.

The Basilisks in ds1 were never terrifying. I got cursed one time.

They were just a pain in the ass due to the after effect. Curse couldn't easily be expunged in the early game due to the fact that you had to drop what you were doing and head to New Londo Ruins or get one of the purging stones from the merchant woman (I think she sold some).

Without quick travel this made for a thorn in the side. Especially from the places basilisk were, great hollow and the depths.

I might be misremembering what it was like originally but I think the merchant women didn't sell them at launch. You had to go to the guy in the first bell tower (I forget his name now) who was obsessed with sin.
That was my memory of it. Fixing curses were a huge pain in the ass the first time you got it. Ahh to be newb and to get rekt again....
Seath was such a lame boss. Getting is tail was kind of a pain though...
Curse was very annoying, but I don't remember being cursed a lot in DS1. Rarely actually. While dying by curse isn't as threathing as before, I think the basilisks here are far more annoying to deal with than the ones in DS1.

Not really, no. Maybe if you were hollowed all day.

It's that one time newbie trap tho to get caught by it. Altho it should be basic gamer sense that when a lizard thing spits a cloud of poop colored mist at you and a bar appears with a skull on it, you should run away from the cloud of poop colored mist.

tbh I miss the curse statues from players fallen. creepy as hell and they're ALL RNG based on pllayers, no statue is ever in the same place twice. Heck, going through ds1 me and my friend actually encountered each other's statues in our own worlds. That was a harrowing moment. I miss that.

Playing through it at the moment, and that game is BRUTAL. I am finding it better than DS3 tbh

The Basilisks never managed to curse me in any of the Souls games actually. But Seath did. He annoyed the crap out of me.

I don't. I've never even gotten cursed in DS1.
