Torn between Gael's GS and Repeating Crossbow

Now, I know that the first reaction is going to be 'go for gael's GS, the repeating crossbow is ♥♥♥♥!' and you may be right. However, I will only be at 20/20 for str/dex, so I don't know how good gael's GS damage would be. I also have been using the avelyn offhand for finishing off enemies, however I dislike that it always uses 3 bolts per shot (I also hate the size of the arbalest, and find the light crossbow's lower damage a bit too low). For this reason I was thinking of going for the repeating crossbow. What do you think?

ps: I really love how the repeating crossbow looks, I am not so much of a fan of how the GS looks

pps: I will largely be using the weapon in PvE as well as PvP

It seriuously depends on your build. If you have not a quality, or a strenght oriended build, gael gs will be interesting but not that powerfull because of the scaling. If you like to use crossbow, try gael's one. I never tried but it may be good

People say that it is just bad, cause it's weapon art is terrible, and the damage is kinda ok. Thing is, I am doing a 20/20/40/40 str/dex/int/faith pyromancer build, and I don't know if gael's gs will actually be damaging enough to be worth it.

the crossbow isnt special really. i havent tried it much in PvE but the repeat fire is good for staggering spellcasters in my experience. i wouldnt reccomend it for a high level build at all though. it can be useful if your opponent starts to run with only a sliver of HP left.

I suppose another factor would be if anyone was willing to drop either of the two to complete the set. Given how much people seem to like gael's GS I doubt anyone would want to drop that.

Crossbow is really bad for a crossbow. Gael GS isn't bad.

a pyromancer build would not exploit all the strenght of Gael's GS imho. It can't be even buffed. You will be for efficent with a regular weapon infused or buffed. Try out the crossbow, if it's interesting for you, i actually don't like crossbows a lot, so, up to you

Hit him 4 times and he still did his attack and didn't stagger , this weapon is a pure meme

i try to sheer away from the gimmicky weapons like woild curved sword, and gaels, farron, etc. its just an obscure move that no one is used to that lets you win. However, im pretty sure the crossbow sucks and gaels sword looks friggin sweet
