Repeating Crossbow vs Avelyn

Question for anyone who has used the Avelyn as an offhand ranged finisher and roll catcher. I'm trying to decide if I want to go with the Repeating Crossbow or Gael's Greatsword. I seriously doubt I'd use the Greatsword much, but people seem to think it's solid.

Can the Repeating Crossbow fill a similar roll to the Avelyn or not so much? I have yet to run into anyone using this weapon, and I have no idea what it's good for / if it's good for anything. It can only fire one bolt at a time unless you 2hand it for the weapon art, right?

the greatsword has some op stunlock combo does like 1mil damage tho but its not fun to use imo dead sword XDXD

Fires 10 bolts in very rapid succession. Sound roll catcher.

Gael's crossbow is absolute garbage for anything other than catching rolls with exploding bolts, so yes, it's better than the Avelyn if you just want to finish people off

So first impressions...repeating crossbow is terrible. Avelyn is much better in general.

Weapon art requires two hands, very slow, eats a lot of stamina and all of your bolts. Each bolt deals massively reduced damage (significantly less than avelyn). At medium range 8/10 bolts are likely to miss a rolling target. Even when you land a bolt early in the chain, accuracy diminishes as you continue firing - seem unlikely to connect more than 3-4 bolts against a staggered medium sized target at medium distance.

They need to adjust this thing.
