I always thought Gwyn had exactly 3 children...?!?

Hey guys, while I'm not the biggest lore crack alive I enjoy watching videos on the Dark Souls lore, so I am not a total beginner when it comes down to it.

Yet, I must have totally missed the fact that they turned Gwyn ( even more ) into Zeus and made him father a myriad of children. As far as I remember, Gwyn had three kids. Mrs. Nice Chest, the moon hermaphrodite and the oldest with the damnatio memoriae thing.

Did I misunderstand something for all those years, were those three kids only the ones from his 'main' family, from the queen he had while reigning in Anor Londo? And if so, could anyone of you be a dear and point me towards the item description or the NPC that clears that up? Preferrably something in DS1 that talks about more than three children?

Or did they just give him more kids when they needed more characters for DS3?

Well. I mean there are more children of Gwyn showing up in the DLC as far as I can tell. And I am confused by that - but I'm also sure I'm just missing some little piece / link to bring it all back together, like is always the case in Dark Souls lore. :)

If the character has Gwyn in their name they are related to Gwyn

There isn't any info on them. BUT we know of a children that weren't advertised. Gwyndolin was basically hidden. You didn't know he existed until you actually talked to him. It's possible that there were other children that weren't advertised. Especially because Ringed City princess got gifted away.

Or they just changed facts from DS1 just because why not. It's up to you what you think.

Or just wait till Vaati gives an explanation.

EDIT: It's also possible Gwyn gifted away someone who wasn't his daughter. Like she was a child to him like a preacher is father to people. Like a title or something.

No, youre assuming about her being Gwyn's daughter. I have a theory that Filionora is a deceit that was placed there to contain the pygmies. So basically you could say she's a daughter of Gwyn, but not in the traditional sense.

I really rather not spoil anything for people not yet playing the DLC - one of the children was given away as a gatekeeper to the inhabitants of the Ringed City. Can't say more without spoiling stuff I reckon.

Also I found the inscription on the darkmoon seance ring of DS1 which you find some time before you visit Gwyndolin. It states:

This ring is granted to adherents of Gwyndolin, Darkmoon deity and last born of Gwyn, Lord of Sunlight.
The Dark Sun Gwyndolin is the only remaining deity in Anor Londo.
His followers are few, but their tasks are of vital importance.

So you know about all of the children of Gwyn in the first game, that's why I'm totally confused right now. The best advice probably really is waiting for Vaati.

That doesn't change the fact that, at some point in time, an unnamed daughter of Gwyn was given to them. It may or may not be Filianore, but the original gift was an unnamed daughter of Gwyn.

grandma_moses Yeah, in my theory the pygmies were told that she is his daughter, but in reality it's a scam like Gwynevere in Anor Londo. And by waking her up you remove the walls containing the Ringed City and everything dries.

Sooo...who is Filianore? We litteraly know only that she is Gwyn's child
We don't know why she is the ringed city, why she is dead or what is the egg in her arms

This dlc can't be the end of Dark Souls
