Please can someone tell me what happend with Gael? Why is he so monsterous now and who were those people that were eaten by Gael?

Considering on some item description says that Gwyn gifted the Ringed City to the pygmies that possessed the dark soul, I guess that thrones area were of past pygmies that resided there, and those that Gael killed were various pygmies of various ages all possessing a dark soul.

Also on some other description says that Gwyn put his younger daughter as "gate keeper" for the pygmies final place and I guess thats Filianore. THe problem seems that when Gael got there to get the dark soul, turned the place into a wasteland by devouring all the pygmies souls there and went crazy, and with all the souls power became that monster.

But thats my theory, no idea if it was the intention.

You see, Gael here has travelled hundreds of years, dealing with a lot of battles and just to find the Pygmy Lords have their blood dried up (damn you, hollowing). In desperation and anger, it seems that Gael consumed all the Dark Soul fragments within them in hope that his blood and the Dark Soul can be a pigment for the Painter.

He knew he was no "champion"; just a normal slave knight that might be a hollow/undead and the Dark Soul would likely to consume him from within. The power is too strong for his body.

He went mad basically after consuming all the dark souls. And I believe, as Manus, madness is what triggered the "activation" of the dark soul within him. And he doesn't search for THE pigmy. Any dark soul of any man would be good, if it were "activated". But, as I said, it requires a madman.

That's just my theory. And Lapp also says after he's cured that you (the player) are the dark soul. But the painter needed the blood, and our blood isn't black, only Gael's blood is black. That's what you give to the painter.
