Old MoonLight or Frayed Blade?
Just beat Darkeater Midir (what a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ damage sponge he was) with my dex/int build (40/50 respectively) and now I'm stuck between which of his boss weapons to transpose. Any suggestions?

Do you want a reliable weapon with bleed and ranged attacks, or one of the most telegraphed and hard to hit spells in the game? I gave up on trying to use old moonlight in pvp awhile ago, but it might be useful for pve.

The problem with old moonlight is its slow speed in both the initial cast and the projectile it launches. It can hit for really good damage when both hits connect, but all it takes is spacing and a strafing to dodge it. I've yet to hit anyone with it while locked on or at range. It looks cool though.

Frayed Blade is pretty much your average katana with cool weapon arts. It performs pretty well in both PvE and PvP, albeit it has low durability. Problem is that the weapon arts does not have any hyper-armor and you can be destroyed by hyperarmor-oriented weapons and enemies having poise.

WA R1 deals pretty decent damage. WA R2 is a flurry of slashes; you need to make sure all slashes hit the target to maximise the damage output. Both WA deals pretty much the same damage; no difference. (PvP wise)

Other than that, standard rules of using Katana still apply to Frayed Blade.

I pretty much only care about the cool factor at this point. Don't really care about accuracy.

It seems the katana is more useful than the sorcery.
If only we could get Midir's laser...that would be epic. xD

Is the damage good at 40 dex?

They really missed a great opportunity.

Would have been nice if it functioned like the laser spell in DS2 but with an explosion.

Now I just feel cheated out of a great spell:/

Haven't got it on my Pure Dex build (pls don't tell anyone I leveled Dex).
It has D/A Scaling. In 40/40, the physical damage is around 184 + 215 fully upgraded. The dark damage does not have any scaling and has an AR of 76. In total, it has an AR of 475-ish

With 40 Dex and base strength requirement (which is 11), the Total AR is around 444 which means that its physical damage is around 368. (this is based on Rosaria's Rebirth)

Thanks for the info. The katana is looking like a pretty safe bet at this point.
