Just fell the Darkeater, posts your strategies and tips here!!
So, I finally took down this friggin beast, after a few hours of trying. While it was certainly hard, Midir only have a certain amount of moves, and most can be pretty much entirely avoided. Here are a few pointers:

First off: FORGET ABOUT THE HEAD!! Sure, lend the occasionnal hit on there when you can, but mostly focus on it's hind legs or tail, you can several hit in safely.

Secondly:DO.NOT.LOCK ON. Locking on will throw your rolls off and get you killed. Only lock when making a pass at the head, then de lock and run under him.

Anyway, here's a small overview

1ST PHASE

-Right Stomp: Midir will raise right front paw, following by... something? Truth is, I've never seen the full attack: You can easily dodge under him, and wail on his belly/hind legs for several secs. CAN COMBO INTO: Standing Fire Breath

-Jaw Swipes: Can be hard to spot, Midir will ♥♥♥♥ his head and slightly back off, before swiping left with his jaw, followed by rigth swipe from his left front paw. Easily one of his most dangerous attack, as you can get stuck between his shoulders and jaw, leaving you open. As soon as you notice, dodge inward under it's left paw, and you should be able to get a few hit on it's hind legs.WARNING!! He sometimes add a Tail swipe to this combo, that can reach you from udner him! Be wary and ready to dodge. CAN COMBO INTO: Standing Fire Breath, Tail Swipe, Forward Breath

-Standing Fire Breath: Now, here is the money maker. Usually after a melee attack, Midir will stand on it's hind legs, and breath fire down, creating a AOE attack that can deal quite alot. As soon as you see him standing, run towards it's tail. The AOE is rather big, so you need to go past 3/4 of it's tail to be safe, BUT!! Once you've passed this point, immediatly attack the tail! With good timing, you can get two strikes in before he lifts is tail, signaling the attack end. If you get hit by the fire, you'll be sent to the ground. DO NOT ROLL UP!! Doing so might allow you to get hit twice! Just lay down and wait the fire wave out. Once done, he will sometime turn around. When that happens, run in, lock the ehad and hit it ONCE, ten run back under him. CAN COMBO INTO: Standing Fire Breath, Tail Swipe

-Tail Swipe: Usually performed whenyou're under or behind him, and after another attack. He 'll look slightly behind him, his tail coiling to his right, befor whipping it around in a circle. Can hurt quit a bit, but dodging it is quite easy. Dodge inward it, then run, lock on and get A SINGLE HIT on the head, and immediatly run back under him.

-BIte Grab: Midir will roar briefly, before lunging in and catching you in his maw, burning you up before tossing you away. Pretty much guaranteed to kill, but VERY easy to dodge. Just run towards him as he roars, and roll when he lunges, and voila!

-Forward Lunge: THe hardest attack to spot. Usually used when you're far, in front of him, but sometimes uses it when you're close. Midir will back out slightly, lowering before quickly lunging forward, crashing into you. A deadly attack, and barely spottable. If possible, always have a shield ready to take the brutn of the attack. The best way to see it coming: If at ANY moment, you feel as if Midir DID NOT attack when he should, he's abotu to pounce you. Immediatly dodge diagonally towards him.

-Fire Breath Forward Combo: He usually does that when you're in front of him. He'll stand up, start spitting fire to his left, then will lunge forward with swipes attacks. He moves qutie a bit when he does that. When he starts lunging forward, lock on and move aroudn his right side, dodge rolling past it's stomping. As soon as you clear him, de lock, and start running after him! You don't want him to get too far, and you might get ONE hit on the head when he is done.

-Back Jump: He'll jump back qutie a bit. Run after him and get a hit on his head if you can, before going back under him.

-Forward Fire Breath: Usually when in front of him, Midir will do the classic dragon breath. He'll either swiper froim right to left, or breath it straight forward, but unleash another breath at you after he's done. Either way, position yourself right under his neck, to it's right, and wail on him. You can get three shot in, headshots even, maybe! Don't be cocky, and ge tcaught in the blast.

- Flying Fire Breath: MIdir wil jum up, flapping is wing, then start breathing fire down to it's left and fly forward, his breath weepign from his lef tto his right. AS soon as he takes off, start running diagonally towards him, away from the fire. Dodge as you get close, and you'll clear it no problem. Immediatly start running after him! You can land TWO good hits on his head if he land close enough.

-DarkFire Breath/ Laser Breath: Midir only use this attack when you're away or running towards him. He'll stare down and start charging fire, before unleashing an AOE similar to Standing Fire Breath. He'll then fire a laser straight down, before raising his head, firign the laser in front of him. Finally, he'll fire the laser in a swiping motion, from is right to his left. The laser leaves aftershocks, so be wary. The fire is bad, but the laser WILL KILL YOU. As soon as he starts breathing fire, lock on to him and circle him from his left, making sure to stay out of the fire. When he starts to fire the laser, close him, wait for the aftershock, then rush in between his head and left front paw. You'll be able to get a few hits in as he fire the sweeping laser.

2ND PHASE

-Dark AOE Explosion: This move will mark the beginning of phase 2. Purple enregy will pool up, before exploding in a powerful AOE from under him. this move WILL KILL YOU. As soon as he start charging, run away from him, then roll just to be safe. As a rule for phase 2, NEVER stay right under him. Always be sure to stay at his periphery so you can run away form the AOE. As soon as the AOE subsides, rush him for a few easy hits, than reset pattern.

-Humanity Stomp: Midir will strike the ground with his right paw, similar to his normal melee, but purple Humanities ghost will float up, hovering a moment before homing on you. Can be damaging, but running in a circle around Midir while dodging will do the trick. WARNING!! Midir can still move AND ATTACK while the ghosts chases you, be wary!

-Humanity Cry: Same thing, but with a cry, and usually when you're far away. Not as dangerous.

-Laser Requiem: His Strongest attack. Midir will charge up, then unleashes his death laser in erratic pattern. Sadly, I only saw it once, and managed to dodge it all , so I don't remember much. Be careful, and try to hide to his left, under him. Should be safe. HE will be open for a LONG time after the attack, so go HAM!!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, here you go, I hope this will be useful to you fine people out here, and wish you best of luck in your dragon hunting! And if any of you have tips, don't hesitate to add to the pile! Cheers!

Yeah the easiest way ive killed him is using the dragonslayer bow with hawk ring and lloyds sword ring just sit back shoot and he will do 1 of 3 attacks im aware of.

1) ImaFiringMaLazer- 3 arrows to the head easy 1500dmg
2) rolling fire, dodge to the side and 2 arrows to the head 800dmg
3) Charge- shoot 1 arrow as he closes the gap when hes over you just run under the tail and he will do one of the 3 listed attacks again.

2nd phase,

Mega Long Lazer, -Dodge
Affinity - run in a large circle.
Dark Nuke AOE- your to close to be using a bow.

Yeah, he actually was easier than Nameless or Champion Gundyr for me - I ran Claymore/Black Knight Shield. You sit around his head, roll through any swipes/bytes he makes for all the fire breathing - just block it. With a Black Knight Shield, Flame Stoneplate, and armor with good fire defense, the damage that gets through is negligible. Some fire breaths have 2 "ticks" of damage so don't drop your shield until he stops, then get 1-2 hits in.
If you stay close you don't have to deal with the laser ever, and the best time to attack is after two claw swipes. But if you can just block his fire, that's most of the threats gone.

The fire breaths, for those that don't use a shield, if we consider his head to be pointing at 12 o'clock behind us, then run towards 10-11 o'clock direction, the fire's AoE least distance is in that direction, quite easy to dodge. This is good alternate strategy when two handing a weapon and don't want to switch for blocking.
