New symbols next to some locations on the Travel menu?

As title. I noticed them next to the Grand Archives, Depths of the Painting and the location where the Gravetender boss is. Anyone know what they mean?

It shows that there are host of embers within your SL range. That means you can easy invade at these places.

Wtf. SL? There are people that actually don't know what that means? I was never told what SL stood for but the first time I saw it I assumed it was "soul level", because you use souls to level up. But then again I'm not the dumbest person on here

I'm pretty sure that those ember indicators were added in random patch, they were not there since the beginning. If you play 1000h total almost non stop and have long break, I'm not amused that people consider it as a new thing

TL;DR - The symbols indicate that there are players in the area who would see your summon signs and who you could invade. The criteria for finding said players (and thereby marking the areas) involve your weapon's upgrade level (IE: Dagger +1, +2, etc...) and soul level (SL).
