Best sorcery equipment?
I'm trying to use sorcery and I am not sure what the best stuff to use is. My int is only 37 right now but I am trying to raise it, but my sorceries don't do a lot of damage at all. For instance, my Affinity does actually like 50-80 damage to invaders and around maybe 140 to enemies. My soul spear does around 128-200 at most to an invader, and around 220 to enemies. I used sorcery all throughout the Souls series and it seems that this is the hardest game for sorcery. Maybe it isn't the staff and it's equipment or rings or just my int level, I don't know. My current staff I use is the Mendicant's Staff (because of the souls absorbtion) but I've tried other staffs as well and there was not much difference, such as the Court Sorcerer's Staff. I'm slightly wondering if int isn't worth it in this game and it's just been nerf'd or something and I should just respec my build but it's hard to think that way when someone invades you and one of their crystal soul spears does 400 damage. I just need input from anyone playing this game longer than me that has mastered is or just someone who's great at sorcery.

TL;DR: My sorcereries do little to no damage compared to others, I am wondering what I should use to git gud. What the secret is to doing 500 damage with soul spear compared to 120. Staffs, rings, sorcereries in general. Any advice would be amazing. :praisesun:

Combine the following as you see fit: 60 int, court sorcerer staff, sage's crystal staff (for the steady chant WA), scholar's candlestick, crown of dusk, morion blade, red tearstone ring, magic clutch ring, young dragon ring, bellowing dragoncrest ring, sage ring (witchtree branch and saint-tree bellvine also increase cast speed if you have them on the other hand, affects pyromancies too), darkmoon ring.

The usual setup is court sorcerer staff, scholar candlestick, crown of dusk, magic clutch ring, both dragon rings and sage ring. For pure mages 60 int is a must.

For mele you can use the farron flashsword/greatsword, moonlight greatsword, scythe from DLC, crystal thrall axe, buffed raw astora straight sword, and ringed city will have a new weapon for int builds too.

I've followed this guide with the skills and the equipment:

I was never going to be pure int, I usually like to have high damage sorcery and heavy armor with a greatsword. Before I was wearing mid to heavy weight armor while using a Sword of Judgement +5. I'll try a pure out and see how it goes.

In pve a pure sorcerer wrecks, but in pvp it's not so good.

If you are more of a mele player you could use the immolation tinder, it has lower spell buff than a staff, but you get the moveset of halberds, a serpent like with no traking WA, and HUGE range with farron flashsword. The versatility of that weapon is very good, and fun.

Then there is the posibility of an int/faith hybrid, using the archdeacon staff, golden ritual spear, lightning weapons and miracles, but this will limit your build even more because the SL needed for it and with less damage so i don't really recomend it.

I'm mostly looking for PvP rather than PvE. I've been using the build since I posted it and it's difficult to have little to no health. I almost get 1 hit by everyone (I was in the Faithful Covenant) and once they realize I have no vigor I would just get cheesed and without a good amount of eddurance, I just get destroyed. :/

pvp mage builds require a lot of micro, so success is more a question of player skill and familiarity than is probably the case with other builds. It takes practice and experience. Consider remapping your key buttons so you can move and change spells at the same time.
