Yoel/Yuria Quest HELP NEEDED ***SPOILERS***
Hi,

I am really confused with the NPC pilgrim, Yoel. I know that besides a merchant he is also allowing you to become Hollow by "Drawing out true strength" and gaining the free level ups. Let me just say that I have already beaten the game once (this is a NG that I am doing right now - not a NG+) and I pretty much know what to expect. I am not worried about spoilers. First of all, I know that some NPCs' quests may become unavailable (or some of them may die prematurely) if you don't take the neccessary steps that are needed before beating certain bosses. Also some of them may become unavailable due to a conflict of interests - you accept one NPC's quest and automatically you are locked out of another one's (not too sure about that one - please confirm). Moreover, I know that if you "Draw out true strength" 5 times before Yoel dies, Yuria will take his place and her quest will begin (which will inevitably kill the knight and make you marry him/her). Last but not least, I know you can use the firekeeper soul to reverse hollowing, although if I am correct and you do this too soon you end up negating the quest and ending it prematurely, either Yoel's or Yuria's. So basically my question and what I don't get about Yoel - Yuria and hollowing is that:

Besides the fact you don't look very attractive once you have hollowed, is there any other real reason why you shouldn't "Draw out true strength" and follow that path? For example, do you lose some other NPC's quest by following Yoel's (and later Yuria's)? Does the knight you are marrying and gets assassinated provide a quest of his/her own (should you not choose Yoel's quest and basically let her live)? Or for example, do you get locked out of one of the 4 possible endings (not that it matters but in my first playthrough I chose the "alternate version of the bad ending" where you summon the firekeeper but you kill her during the last moments of the cutescene)?

I am extremely sorry about the long post. Thanks to everyone who took the time to read it and thank you in advance for your answers/insights.

Yes, there is a short continuation of Anri's questline if you don't go for Usurpation ending.
And about hollowing, no, it only makes you look like raisins and the fact that you will have to pay a huge amount of souls to get rid of dark sigil if you are high leveled.

I see. So basically you say that besides the fact that you look like raisins and the huge amount of souls required to get rid of the sigil, the only drawback in following yoel's quest is that you cut anri's quest short? Also, does Anri's quest provide something really good if you dont cut it off? Cause as much as I hate to admit it Yoel's path lets you do 5 level ups for free and thats not something you easily ignore. The advantages are really good. You think I should opt for doing Yoel again or Anri's?

Thank you in advance :)

Well I can't think of ay drawbacks, besides, maybe the fact that you need to level up 5 times and if you are going for a PVP build, it may screw you up.
I don't want to spoil, but finishing Anri's questline doesn't yield much besides story.
I personaly go with Yoel on first playthrough.

I see. Thanks a lot ;) (i am guessing the whole screwing up thing for pvp is that you may end up going above the soul level you originally intended)

Following Yoel's/Yuria's Questline til the end (wedding with Anri which leads to the Ursurpation ending) grants you Yuria's armor (if you summon her for the final boss fight) and her sword. You'll get another sword if you do Yuria's sidequest: giving her Orbecks Ash.

Following Anri's Questline - fullfilling his/her mission defeating Aldrich in his/her world, may grant you the Pale Shade-armorset and a claw-weapon. Because if you interrupt the planned ritual, Yuria will send a Phantom after you to kill you.

To make this working, you'll need at least one dark sigil from Yoel and cure it afterwards with the Fire Keeper Soul or killing him, but BEFORE defeating the Abysswatchers.
You need to be embered and the bosses need to be alive to make the phantom invading you in Farron Keep (near the Basilisks) and Irithyll (after the sewers, after the room with the 3 Silver Knights)

The claw-weapon drops from the phantom itself. After defeatng him the second time, the armorset will spawn at Yuria's place at Firelink-Shrine.

Okay I got it. Do you think it is worth it though? Going through all this to get the armorset and the weapon? My point being that if that armor and weapon are really good then it sounds smart, otherwise isn't the smart move to fully go with Yoel so you level up as much as possible? (I understand of course that everything is player preference and which quest/path you want to take, however I am asking purely on what is considered as "objectively the smart path" to take as in which path offers you better results - the way I see it, I just have to choose if I want "five free level ups" OR "an armorset and a weapon". Sounds right?)

Thank you in advance :)

The smart path is to let the fire die :tdealwithit: Plus you need to kill Yuria to get the shade to hunt you and you need to do it before the abysswatchers boss fight. So you get the 5 levels anyway.

So what you are saying is that I can have both. I stick with Yoel for the free level ups and when Yuria appears, I kill her to make the phantom appear twice and get the weapon and the armorset. Am I correct? (If yes, just to confirm, the phantom that Yuria sends if I give her the ashes is the same one that appears if I kill her directly?)

Thanks for answering.

Yep

This guy http://darksouls3.wiki.fextralife.com/Londor+Pale+Shade
If you kill Yuria he will hunt you in farron keep and Irithyll. But as with any invasion the area boss needs to be alive for him to invade you.

Forgot to add that you will miss the morion blade if you kill Yuria. It is possible to get the blade and kill her before killing the abysswatchers but then you will missout on all the items from Orbeck.

But you can just ask for someone to drop you all the items ;)

You don't need to kill Yuria to get the Pale Shade invader. It is enough to hit Yuria 3 times, and run away. Then you can meet the Pale shade , get his weapon and Armor.
After it: visit the statue of Velka to pay for your sins ( very expensive).

....and Yuria will be friendly again, so you can follow her questline.

You can level up with Yoel, and when Yuria apears, you can kill her and get exclusive items.

Okay, so to recap everything. I do Yoel's quest, get the 5 free level ups and become hollow. After he dies, Yuria appears (her quest is simply to giver her Orbeck's ashes whom I can kill on the spot I guess and he drops them (?) ). First I aggro Yuria by hitting her 3 times and that will cause her to send the phantom after me twice. Beat the phantom twice and I get the claws on the first drop and the armorset waits for me back at the shrine where Yuria is (?). Next step is to request absolution and pay for my sins so as to make Yuria friendly again and complete her storyline (basically give her Corbeck's ashes).

1) Does all this sounds correct or did I get confused somewhere along the way?
2) Also, by giving her the ashes she will have a sword for me to purchase afterwards?
3) If yes, is it the same sword you get if you summon her during the last boss fight?
4) Finaly; the armorset the phantom drops is the same one you get if bring Yuria into the final boss fight (meaning her own armor)?

Thank you in advance :)

OK. So what you are saying is that I got just three options after Yuria appears then.
1) I either kill her to make the phantom appear and get the items mentioned above
2) I dont kill her and I complete her quest by giving her the ashes
3) I give her the ashes and then I kill her so I get pretty much everything this way

Is that correct?

Thanks
