Why is Lothric King?
On the back of the burnt throne in firelink shrine it says "Holy king Lothric, last hope of his line", now if he is the King and is the last hope of his line then what is wrong with Lorian? He is an amazingly skilled fighter and is only crippled because he opted to share his brothers curse. Why was he not considered a worthy heir? Surely him being the eldest and skilled in combat is all the more cause for him to be the King?

Probably a weird succession? There were a lot of three year old kings back in the day due to them being "royal"
The royal family thought that Lorian was not enough so they cherished the youngest, Lothric, while Lorian would serve as a fierceful warrior.

If you can, read Lothric's clothes (Set of Prayer)

Well why is Lothric called Lothric? Is the place named after him or is he named after the place?

That's just how royalty works. Royalty used to be decided by the "gods" that the royal families prayed to. There would be substitutes though. So basically, if Lothric died, Lorian would become king.
Im fairly sure the eldest would still be first priority in this scenario since the only "Gods" in this game were people like Gwyn and Nameless who Lothric and Lorian are suposedly desendants of anyway.

Oceiros was obsessed with dragons and pure blood. Each child was an attempt to be closer to what he thought royalty should be. That's why the queen left. Because he was going insane as seen in the boss fight and his rambling on about ocelotte. Also I think lothric is both his name and the family name. Kinda like a Mario Brothers thing where marios name is Mario Mario.

Lothric's duty, the "last hope of his line", was to link the fire. He was born specifically for the purpose of linking the fire, and becoming a Lord of Cinder. His older brother, Lorian, was not. I assume Lorain was meant to carry on the Kingdom, after his brother submitted his life. Which is why Lorian wears the crown and armor of royalty, and Lothric wears coarse, religions robes. Lothric was also raised by the priestess, Emma. Preparation to become a Lord of Cinder is a religious rite, one with dire consequences.

However, when Lothric rejected his duty, his older brother Lorian stood by his side as his protector. He bound his powerful soul with his brother's, and shared in his "curse". It was then that Lorian became a joint "Lord of Cinder" with his brother, as they both watched the fire fade.

Relevant Lore:

"The Lothric bloodline was obsessed with creating a worthy heir, and when this proved impossible, resorted to unspeakable means. Suffice it to say, the path to linking the fire is a cursed one indeed."

"The prince, destined to be a Lord of Cinder, was cherished by the royal family, despite being born into illness, a frail and shriveled child. His swaddling, clothes were made of aged, coarse cloth used in ancient prayer, and are all that he has ever worn."

"The High Priestess also served as the prince's wet nurse."

"Prince Lothric's straight sword, blessed by [was] Emma with potent magic. Young Lothric was meant to be a champion, and was expected to wield this platinum sword, but some things will remain distant dreams forever."

"Lorian, raised as a knight, is said to have been left mute and crippled by his younger brother's curse. It is also said that Lorian, in fact, wished it so."

"Before Lorian embraced his brother's curse, he was a knight who single handedly slayed the demon prince."

"Their union is rooted in a curse, and perpetuated by grief."

"The two princes rejected their duty to become Lords of Cinder, and settled down far, far away to watch the fire fade from a distance. A curse makes their souls nearly inseparable."

Thankyou, that actually clears up a lot of questions i had, the only thing im curious about is why it says "Holy King Lothric", could it perhaps be refering to Lorian and "Lothric" being his second name?

Maybe, but I don't think so. Lorian was never meant to be a Lord of Cinder. The religious order of the kingdom of Lothric was heavily focused on creating the perfect heir for the linking of the fire. The younger prince was probably looked to in status of a "Holy King", the one who would not only save his kingdom, but the entire world. As mighty and powerful as Lorian was, he was still subservient to his brother.
