Was I over leveled for Pontiff Sulyvahn?

So this is my second ds3 playthrough (NG). My goal is to not use any summons for the bosses, and I've been doing pretty well. Only problem I had was crystal sage, who kicks my ass. I recently just fought pontiff at level 63 and beat him first try. Looking at other people's experiences I'm wondering if I was over leveled or something. I used a +7 claymore and knight armor with dragon crest shield(never used it), and my rings were the speckled stoneplate, flamestoneplate, blue tear, and chloranthy. I had 12 estus at +8

I would say you were around perfect level range for it not to be too easy. If you tried to clear each area 100% on a way to Irithyll you would be even higher level. I killed it in first try as well, but probably on higher soul level as I finishing all other optional stuff and killed Yhorm before going for Pontiff.

I agree with Kuro, bear in mind that bosses have significantly less health when you solo them, I personally often find bosses easier to do on my own.

Yeah that's what I did too, I never understood why people do yhorm after aldrich/pontiff, because yhorm is much easier and debatabley the whole area is a bit easier than ano londor/ithryll

I would say a bit overleveled, but not too much. Not because of the weapon or SL but the estus upgrade. Pontiff doesnt do much damage, so with good healing you can destroy him pretty easy. Source: me and my tank builds who find pontiff to be one of the easiest bosses.

62? You have to be level 20 to not be overleveled until The Archives... not.

Getting to SL60 is really easy by that point of the game. It is weird I also had a much easier time my second time through. I also learned to parry him, which takes a bunch of his health with the critical.
