if you want to buff the halberd, i guess the one with the highest dmg is the winged knight halberd, dropped by those fat winged knights. its also the heaviest halberd and has a (atleast in my eyes) crappy weaponart.
if you play without buffs, i guess gundyrs halberd is the best for str builds and black knight glaive for quality builds. not sure about dex builds though.

all in all it really depends on what build you use. you cant get "the best halberd build", since each halberd, which is worth using, has some weaknesses. gundyr and black knight cant be buffed/infused, winged knight halberd has high weight and a meh weaponart...depends on what you prefer

I want to combine speed with damage. I want to be able to deal damage with a few blows before being able to roll away.

The Glaive (sold by Greirat after his first pillaging mission) is definitely an underrated weapon. Can be infused and buffed, same moveset as the BKG including hyperarmour on the L2 R2 combo and much less weight. R1 is faster when two-handing and use the Grass Cress shield plus Chloranthy ring for faster stamina regen.

That's... every weapon in the game.

All halbers are around the same speed and damage. Damage output dealt by you is always dependent on how YOU use it.

Gundyr's Halberd is busted. 66/40 it does 567 AR. Its knockdown moves are also close to impossible to dodge.

For noobs it's impossible. For people who don't expect it it's impossible. But otherwise it's pretty easy to dodge.

I mean it's similar to the Soul of Cinder's 5 hit combo. If you get caught in the thrusting attack, you literally can't get out, and you're staying in for the whole move.
this thread is really oddly unspecific. "forum i wan gud wepon, plz help"

red hilted halbert buffed comes to mind, might fit your preferred playstyle. gundyrs halberd is a ridiculously good strengh weapon. lucerne is up there too, with leo ring.

just try out some of these and go with the one that fits your playstyle the most.

I understand that, but is there any halberd you would say is... better than the rest in terms of speed/damage?

Thank you dearly for your comment! I always did think Gundyr was pretty cool!

No.

Read it again. Your reading comprehension skill is around 0.

I am pretty sure you gravely misunderstand what I have written, which is not a surprise considering the intelligence that is the current community of videogaming.

I wasn't asking for a weapon. I was asking for a build for halberds.

Next time, be a bit less embaressing and actually understand what you read.

Thank you.

Well I don't really need to read it again considering you're the one who needs to read my topic again.

I wasn't asking for a WEAPON.

I was asking for a BUILD. It's two completely different things.

And as for my reply, I am 100% sure that not ALL halberds have the EXACT amount of damage when fully upgraded.

Thank you.

some big words for someone who does not seem to have fundamental knowledge about anything game related. good job.

halberts are almost exclusively quality weapons. so in simpler terms just for you: this is 40 strengh and 40 dexterity. a weapon is part of a build and once you know what weapon to use you have a clear idea of a build so i don't really know what your problem with weapon suggestions are. if you want the fine tuning go to mugenmonkey.com and do some testing. i am sure you are able to do that.
