How to get rid of curse?

I currently, after being in the Undead Settlement, appear hollowed, and there is a stone like image next to my health. Anyone know how to get rid of this, and what it is?

i'm just going to say talk to yoel first and get all the free level ups you can.
then warp back to firelink.
then check yoel again.

when you took the free levels from yoel, you got a key item called dark sigil (related to questline, I recommend you take all five levels before the abyss watchers). dark sigils will give you hollowing when you die. You can buy purging stone to get rid of the hollowing but keep the dark sigils, or buy the tower key, get the item in the tower and get rid of your dark sigils (that would mess up the quest)

A future NPC will die if you do the questline correctly, I don't want to spoil it too much

You can become hollow now. That's a disadvantage if you don't like it. Otherwise, no. Yoel has a quest line towards a specific ending with a lot of stuff involved. I recommend you look it up tbh.

So, how do you become un-hollow?

3 ways; 1 permanent 2 are temporary.
Removing it with purging stone or the Velka Statue
Cover it up with Untrue Ring
Getting the Firekeeper to remove the sigils permanently so death stops giving you hollowing;
Automatic lockout of the third ending by doing so.

firekeeper soul on the top of the tower above firelink shrine requires key (20k souls) + souls used on Free Levels to undo the curse

Stone like image next to health... I think he means where the game says what covenant you are in. You are not cursed. There is no cursed effect in the game (there is a curse effect that kills you if the meter is filled, but it doesn't give you any other disadvantages like it did in DS1).
