If you feel like you need help with a boss, you just need to do a little more figuring them out. Wolnir is a gimmick boss, and he should cause no problems once you learn about his bracelets. Helps that his slaps are slow. When he raises a hand, roll clear out of the way. Other than that, you should be able to hit each bracelet once with the Great Club or 3 times with another weapon to destroy it.

NP. Remember: When you're stuck on a boss, try experimenting a little. It might be that you need to learn its gimmick, what you can abuse, what each combo is, or simply how to dodge and counter each attack. Some bosses are legitimately hard, but they'll be all the more gratifying to defeat on your own. Plus, you'd earn extra bragging rights.

if you are still having touble you could cheese him with the poison mist pyromancy.

at the start of the fight you can lock on to his left hand [will be on your right]
and you can use cloud dammage (weather that be poison/toxic/mercury)

pretty much acts just like mimics. you will not agro the boss unless you hit him...

Cheese strats don't help you git gud, though. And that's where most of the fun comes from, is overcoming difficulty.

I appreciate your willingness to help. And I like to hear about the variety of ways players approach these puzzles. The ability to capitalize on all that the game offers shows resourcefullness and ingenuity, and in your case also a good heart--to help somebody else.

I fear I misphrased the title of this post. I don't actually have too much trouble with the game, even the bosses, which I usually figure out eventually. I just like doing bosses with other people.

Ah, cool. Good to know. Just trying to make sure people are playing with the right approach and getting the most out of the game.

To be fair, I just completed DS3 using a pure STR build wielding a Great Mace. Something I've never done before. It took me awhile to get adjusted to the bosses which I was taking alot longer to kill.

There are phases to the fight that I've NEVER seen because I'm so used to beating it less than a couple of minutes by dashing and swinging with a straight sword. I ended up getting stumped several times. I never knew the mist beyond his ribcage can damage you. I never knew he could summon multiple skeletons.

Likewise for Deacons. If you take too long during the second phase, several deacons will channel a dark fog and cause dark damage to be constantly dealt until you've taken them out.

Which is why you've got to target them first, and go for the Pope after you interrupt the curse fog.
