there was an effective method for it pre-buff, but it was pretty gimmicky.
at least thats how it is in ds2,not sure about it here,never used lances very often if i had any other decent choice

this should still work, but even safer now that the r1 is faster and has hyperarmor.
Hyperarmor is very large on the weapon art and the charge is the longest in the game I think. Great for wake-up and roll catching.
It's not as easy to parry as you may think, the parry timing for the charge is probably earlier than you may think so it can catch you unawares if you try time it as you would another charge WA.
