That ring only saves you from taking damage on drops which are not fatal. Any fatal drop is still fatal, and having invaders pop in and try do disrupt the annoying descent can be avoided with the very simple and effective strategy of going offline until you reach that next bonfire :)
Indeed. Many places in the game could use invasions. Invading on Archdragon Peak is just a D*ck move. Invading on the descent from the Chapel is just a D*ck move. Invading on the space between the Inner Wall and Streets is just a D*ck move.
I mean, thats kinda petty way to skip out of a core component of the game. You also lose the feeling of actully winning a PVP.
And don't forget the host has a RIDICULOUS advantage over invaders.
i have been embered my whole play thrugh and have not found a single invader because the way invasions work, the game will only let them invade gank squads. unless you have a phantom helper, there is little chance of getting invaded.
Dumb? PITA areas are PITA. Getting through those solo is the best way to maximize one's time. Some of us have jobs, children, mortgages, wives, a social life, etc etc. So when just trying to play for 20 minutes, usually it's fine. But certain areas of the game are like magnets for complete scrubs who think that invading on tough areas is "cool".
That is cheating.
